  • DT Cam Thomas, UNC

Hes probably made one of the biggest jumps over the off season. Right now where can you see him going in the draft? Maybe as high as a early-mid 2nd? At 6'4 330lbs he fits into the role at a NT for 4-3 and 3-4 defenses. What do you all think?

I'm leery with him. I haven't watched him very much or very closely but his rise has been astronomical while I wonder what makes him that much better than Linval Joseph or Terrell Troup.

I see him going in the 2nd round. The earliest i see him going is 41st overall to Buffalo, but KC, MIA, and NYJ are all possible destinations IMO.

Mid to late second, I think. I love this kid though. Would love us to snag him sometime but with Crennel loving Troup I'm not sure it happens.

Unless Miami uses their first on Dan Williams, I dont see him slipping past the Dolphins in the 2nd round. Ferguson is suspended for the first 8 weeks and a 3-4 is predicated on having a solid nose tackle. There arent that many 3-4 NTs in this draft and they will all be gone by the 2nd round. After that you take major projects

So what exactly makes Cam that much better than Joseph, Troup or Woods?

functional brute force. ability to collapse the pocket and consistently walk his man back 3-5 yards at the senior bowl. also gets a devastating inside push against the guard in the running game. seems to have long arms with good extention.

he was the best NT against the pass at the senior bowl. even better than cody and williams from what i saw. he got better push against the pocket than cody and williams in the passing game.

i'd be lying if i told you that i ever saw alot of film on linval joseph or any as far as troupe is concerned. al woods has always been pretty athletic at LSU but he's never impressed me quite like terrence cody or dan williams.

I'll admit that I haven't seen Troup, but I agree that there's no way Thomas goes later than 40.

I wish I had seen Troup play--he sounds like the kind of player I would be impressed with.

Cam is a beast. I'm expecting him on KC's second 2nd rounder, maybe as early as Miami.

The ironic thing is that he's probably the worst player in our defense.

I don't have him over Troup but as far as big bodies go, you could go a lot worse. With the bolts needing a NT, this is a direction I'd be okay with if they go RB in the first. Developmental for now, but could still be part of a rotation based on size alone.

I'd love to land him in the 2nd for the Saints if we don't go DT in the first. He's a force against the run and commands double teams and is a perfect NT for a 4-3. I question his ability to play NT in a 3-4.

I don't. She's stout, wide, and is used to taking on two people at the same time.
