Mangini has always gotten a bad wrap in my opinion. He had that Jet team at 8-3 last year. Granted they ended 9-7 but to me that was more because of Favre being completely gassed and playing terrible down the stretch. And I don't think Mangini was ever on board with the Favre idea, that was all ownership.

You'd think Clevelands leadership and actions since they came back would have been enough to do this.

        Yeah, I play WoW too.[/CENTER]

Its like not as severe as Oakland or Buffalo. Though Im not sure if Buffalo tries to get lots of FAs and fails or doesn't try. Oakland definitly needs to overpay or give players a chance to start or make the roster that they wouldn't for other teams.

Nah Mangini was awful, he got out coached A LOT.

I was shocked that another team hired him as a head coach, I was a lot less shocked when i found out that team was the Browns.

              Could not agree more.

If Favre doesn't fall apart at the end of last year, the Jets are in the playoffs 2 of Mangini's first 3 first seasons as a head coach.

There are a ton of football teams in the NFL who would love that type of turn around.

Is he a genius? Probably not, but he develops talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball and he wins football games. And before anyone says Gholston, fine, but look at Darrelle Revis, David Harris, and Leon Washington who are all big time contributors on that team

And there's already a huge difference in Cleveland. Plenty of people have written Kamerion Wimbley off as a bust. I doubt Minnesota thinks he's a bust after being a disruptive force against them to the tune of 1 sack and 3 hits on Favre. The defense is like night and day last year with what he and DC Rob Ryan have been doing.

The Browns have a defense with guys like Shaun Rogers, D'Qwell Jackson, Kamerion Wimbley, Eric Wright, and Abram Elam all looking very good in the early going.

you mean we cant sign the Gary Baxters, Donte Stallworths, LeCharles Bentleys, Jeff Garcias, Corey WIlliams', and Kevin Shaffers of the world b/c they might not want to play for us? Oh darn, how we will ever overcome that?

wonderbredd's right btw. The Browns defense showed way more tenacity and toughness than any defense we've had in years. I like where we are headed defensively so far under mangini/ryan. Funny how just a coaching change can make Kamerion Wimbley look so good.

Mangini's problem is he only knows one way to coach because he has been under Bill Belichick his whole career as well as Parcells for part of it. The way those guys are can get old quick, especially with the media. But most forgive them cause they win. This same guy Jets fans hate now, they called Mangenious after year 1. Winning cures all. Belichick didn't win right away and was probably more of a failure with the Browns than Mangini was with the Jets. Personally I like the way Eric coaches. The media many times pushes things when they don't like someone, that was part of his problem in NY. Rex Ryan knows this and kisses the media's ass already. He's being really fake with them.

Wait until he has to face a decent OL though, not taking away credit and I haven't watched the game outside highlight mode yet(tonight hopefully) but he is either going against McKinnie, who can't pass block at the best of times, nevermind against speed guys like Kam or a massive rookie in Loadholt who also is likely going to struggle with speed guys. I was a big fan of Kam when he was drafted so it's nice to see him have a bit of success, but I would wait to see some consistency and against some better competition before saying Mangini has turned him around.

Props to BK on the sig!

Some great points here. Part of Mangini's problem is that he gives off the genuine dickhead vibe and does nothing to try and minimise that, he is a complete ass to the media and as a result he creates pressure on himself. In a media crazy place like NY that creates a lot of pressure, look at Coughlin for example, he was on a serious hot seat, made a conscious effort to be more personable with the media and won some games early and it all turned around.

Mangini is the coach who will have to win or he will be on a hot seat real quick because at least publicly he is a really unlikeable guy. Childress is the same in Minny.

He had a sack against Michael Roos in preseason and bullrushed him into Kerry Collins.

He's been a playmaker all through the preseason and now into the regular season. It's also important to note that one of the hits he put on Favre was when he beat McKinnie with strength, not speed.

He's just a different player out there. He shows great fundamentals as a run stopper and has developed more moves as a pass rusher. The light is on.

I thought agents were supposed to steer away from the Raiders and the Bengals, not the Browns
