Very good point D. I guess they were hoping Miller would be the one, but he still needs to prove himself. And I guess we'll see how Choice and Murray do once they get back from injuries.

Here's hoping it could be Lonyae Miller. That's what they've been grooming him for in camp. Guy is 230ish. That said, he doesnt seem to be the power back type. That's not to say he couldnt do it, he's just not a bruiser. The kid has tons of physical talent, though. Honestly, I'd have no problem giving the ball to Felix in those short situations. Felix has a lot more power than given credit for. He's a tough runner these days and he's a pretty big back. As Garrett has said, he certainly looks the part of the 3 down back now.

Miller kinda stunk it up against Denver. Showing that he needs the OL to create a push for him or else, he's inadequate.

I probably would agree on Felix. If there's one thing that will be unquestioned by the end of the year... it's knowing what kind of back Felix is capable of being.

        • I edited my post....I wasnt trying to hate on Miller. And as I said before, he has every right to blame the line on that game. Without good blocking, most RBs would suck. That's just the truth. It'd be nice if Lonyae could have at least had a chance to get passed the line of scrimmage. Our second team line was getting pushed back pretty bad.

I'm not sure if Choice or Murray will play in this next game. So hopefully we'll get a chance to see Lonyae run behind the ones.

          • Speaking of Gronk. I dont really know how we feel about Chapas right now. Havent heard much. They're very similar. I heard some suggest we may even go FB-less...and decide to go with Phillips and keep Rucker on board. Who knows?

Should have drafted John Conner when had the chance. It was interesting to hear us interested in Vontae Leach when he was available.

We could go several ways here.

            Thanks BoneKrusher^

            • I do hate to harshly criticize players who are humble and trying to make it in the league, so I'll try not to be a Miller hater. But he'll need to show up in more than just practice, and I'd like the hype machine to chill a bit on him... and the Choice haters to quiet down.

I think Gronk has better hands out of the backfield and that might push Garrett to keeping him. But yeah... really wish we had gotten Leach. He's a beast.

              • Would have been nice...but if I was a premier blocking FB, I wouldnt want to go to Dallas, either. Not with the way we use our "true" FBs. There are def. more snaps elsewhere.

Yep... and Baltimore is right there at the top.

I liked Hynoski more than Chapas... so I'm kind of watching that one. Of course, it was the Giatns that got him as an UDFA. hah. He's already reached cult status there. LOL.

It's official -- undrafted free agent fullback Henry Hynoski has reached cult hero status. Following practice via Twitter Monday night (I am back home this week) it seems Hynoski was laying some serious lumber throughout practice. Then there is the nickname fight. First, there is a debate between 'Hynoceros' and 'Hank The Tank,' and there is also a debate over who coined 'Hynoceros' first. You guys have been using it, but I don't think we can claim dibs on it. By the way #Hynoceros has even become a Twitter hashtag. Even Rhett Bomar never reached those heights.

Speaking of the Giants... as much as we love our passing attack... we need to give their 2ndary some real respect. Corey Webster, Terrell Thomas, Antrel Rolle, Kenny Phillips, Tyler Sash, Aaron Ross, Prince Amukamara...

                  That's unbelievable.

The Gmen are stacked in the secondary. Kudos to them in assembling that squad.

                    • I LOVE that Kenyon Coleman was running with the 1st team defense today while Igor was demoted to 2nd team.

                      • Nice. That's the first real indication that Igor may be on his way out as well. That's long been rumored this off-season, but there wasnt any true substance to it until now.

edit...according to the thing i read, it was just a nickel package and he's still running with the ones.

Read a good article today where Rob spoke very highly of Coleman.

Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan called recent free agent signee Kenyon Coleman a ǣtough, proven guy.

The Cowboys signed the veteran end to add depth to their defensive line.

The signing reunites Coleman with Ryan. Coleman started 27 of 29 games for Ryan in Cleveland from 2008-09, registering four sacks.

ǣHes about as solid as there is an end in the 3-4 scheme, Ryan said. ǣHe knows how to play it. He puts up a big stop sign that says, No run. You have to go the other way. Thats what he does. Pass-rush wise, maybe hes not the greatest, but hes got long arms and he can deflect balls, so thats all Im goign to say about his pass rushing.

                          • Is it finally Hatcher's time to breakout?

Defensive end Jason Hatcher was a man without a team less than a month ago.

But he has been on a tear since returning two weeks ago and is threatening Igor Olshansky's starting job at right end.

Rob Ryan said nothing is decided and that four veterans -- Hatcher, Olshansky, Marcus Spears and Kenyon Coleman -- are sharing reps at the ends.

But he doesn't deny that Hatcher has been a standout performer. He put it all on display in the preseason opener against Denver.

"He was the player of the day," Ryan said. "He was a one-man wrecking crew on the pass rush. We are excited about him."

If Hatcher wins the job, Olshansky could be released and end up in Houston with former Cowboys coach Wade Phillips, who coached him in San Diego and brought him to Dallas.

The Texans have no experienced 3-4 ends, and it was no coincidence that they had a scout at the Broncos game.

                            • Looks like Felix lost a couple LB's. I think that is good. He looked closer to the old Felix in the first preseason game to me.

I know it is early, but I am not as nervous about this year now as I was a few months ago.

                              • Oh yea, I am not nearly as nervous about WR as some. I think between Oggs, Harris and Holley that someone will rise. All three of these guys speak to me.

There are some that say losing Roy Williams is bad because all we have is Oggs, Harris and Holley left. That is funny to me. My question is "How will we ever find someone that will replace Roy's 38 catches a year?"
