Maybe there is something wrong with Garrett's Xs and Os. Or maybe Romo's not going through all his reads properly.

Oh and establishing the running game would probably help loosen up some of the coverage. I wonder if Garrett's ever heard of play action?
Brian Broadus said on the radio that Woodson spent most of his day covering Witten. GB used a safety over the top on Austin and used Woodson on Witten most of the day. That should have meant a big day for RW. He certainly would have had a big day if he held onto the ball.

    • The biggest play of the entire game was the illegal hands to the face call on Jenkins, it was just one of those plays where we had terrible luck. It happened well before the play so it's not as if Jenkins knew, but that was 7 points gone down the drain and an extreme amount of momentum.

If we got up 10 points on them it was game over, just one of those weeks where everything went wrong, including penalties. Reminded me of the Arizona game last year.

I agree 100%. As with every week, there is way too much overreaction one way or the other.

Let's not forget, this team is averaging over 400 yards of offense prior to GB. We'll be fine.

        • Roy Williams: Be the Go-To Guy, or Cut Losses

From the How to Fix Your Team thread. I thought Dallas fans would want to see this too.

Last resort time for WR Roy Williams. He thinks he has a pass on his underachievement b/c Jerry Jones put his own considerable ego on the line bringing him to Dallas in a highly profiled big trade with the Lions. He thinks he will last longer on the roster than Wade will as HC, he should be forced to learn otherwise.

The Dallas Cowboys should hire the best WR position specialist, even a HS coach if necessary, tell him to bring along videos & a text on Playing WR 101.

1st build a cone of silence around what you're doing & under no circumstances tell Jerry Jones the player career rehab you are about to do. If he or his minions inquire, lie about it. Better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission in this case.

Sit Roy Williams down in a p/o the Valley Ranch facility where Jerry Jones has no access, reset the cypherlock key code if necessary to the freaking room, give him the Come To Jesus speech: a brutal browbeating on how his pro career is jeopardized by his unacceptable drops & not paying attention to the small details of route running, getting separation from the DB, using his huge body to shield the ball from the DB, avoiding offensive PI, etc. Tell him he has lost his starting job to Hurd or Crayton or whomever, & unless he works with the team on this rehab for the full wk. they will hold him accountable in front of the entire team -- Humiliation & ridicule have always been the strongest weapons known to man.

Break his resistance, ego & spirit by threatening to release him from the team outright if he doesn't turn it around & showing him in 72-point bright red type on a PowerPoint slide just how much $ in gamechecks that will cost him this yr. alone if that transpires. The following slide s/b a list of the leading WRs available as UFAs & in the 2010 draft this offseason, then give Dez Bryant wearing a Dallas no. 11 jersey his own slide with captioned quotes from Dallas assts. on how high they are on him.

Then take him back to the basics, WR 101, a full wk. of back to school on playing the position. Grade him daily, even hourly: Chart his progress on a Powerpoint slide every day & show milestones missed & achieved. Show him what the role of a primary WR is, what it means to be that Go-To Guy, then compare the slides with slides charting the meteoric rise of Miles Austin, his primary competitor, as the Cowboys' Go-To Guy. At the end of the wk. if he passes, allow him to keep his job. If he doesn't, or shows a resistive bad attitude about this rehab, or worse case runs to Jones or any other Cowboys executive with a complaint, show him the door.

Wade Phillips won't do it, circumventing Jones can be career-limiting in that organization, but his own job may well rest on how Roy Williams develops or not.

            Can't we just waterboard him?

waterboarding would be a slap on the wrist

Yes it's an overblown oversimplification, but Williams is making the kind of fundamental game errors that 15-yr-old hs jr. varsity WRs make, I was just showing how his errors could be corrected the same way.

But I'm serious in that I think Williams thinks he has more clout with Jones than Wade Phillips does, & Phillips knows it too. He also knows they have too much of an investment in him to release him outright, so it would be the smart thing to do by actually coaching him on how to play the position & not **** up so often in games.

TO thought his drops were cute too, always came back to the bench with that shiteating grin .... he doesn't think it's so cute freezing his ass off in a 2-win small mkt. team like Buffalo now does he? There but for the grace of Jerry Jones could go Roy Willams. After that costly drop in GB I for one am fed up with his underachieving & am just about ready to start the Draft Dez Bryant bandwagon rolling

              • Anybody watching MNF right now? It's only the 3rd quarter but damn... Andre Johnson is dropping A LOT of passes. I bet if he was here and did the same thing that some people would be cursing him the same way Roy is being bashed.

                • Trap game alert -- I'm putting the black & yellow hazard warning tape around the Thursday game.

Oakland's opportunistic defense got the turnovers they needed to upset red-hot Cincy Sunday. Their defense is good & their offense seems to have been resurrected from the dead with Gradkowski at QB. Ndami Asomugha is the best cover corner in FB & MLB Kirk Morrison is a Pro Bowler, Dallas can't consider Thxgvg. to be a gimme by any means.

Thumble-******* around for 3 & 1/2 qtrs. then winning by 1 point vs. one of the worst teams in the NFL with one of its worst QBs isn't going to cut it vs. a hungry Raiders defense. Their RBs are similar to Dallas', big backs in a rotation of 2-3 b/c one is always hurt. Their WRs suck, top draft pick Heyward-Bey had like 6 catches all yr. before the Cincy win. Their front 5 o-line is awful, Dallas has a big advantage there even with Columbo done for the yr. on comparison. But their defense is formidable & Roy Williams is going to have to have his best game against Asomugha. If Austin starts (IDK his status, what is it?) they will put him on Austin, the Raiders usually try to take away the opponent's best receiver & then concentrate on stopping the run.

Formula for Raiders upset: Dallas just can NOT afford to turn the ball over to these guys & give their offense a short field.

Andre Johnson has a track record of producing at a very high level. Williams does not.

To be a trap game the team has to be playing with some kind of confidence and are on some type of roll. Neither of which describes the Cowboys right now. Plus not every game against a mediocre team has to be a "trap game". I've been hearing that term way to much this season.

                      • Dallas had a 4-game win streak but that train was derailed in Green Bay.

OK, sub Gimme Game, synonymous with Easy Win, for trap game. I meant it in the sense of an bushwhack upset by an alleged inferior team.

He also has a long track record playing with the same QB. He had some ugly drops. Had 1 big highlight catch that got everyone out of their seats... but that's why people give him a free pass. AJ is a great WR. I'm not saying he's not. I'm just saying he had a bad game last night, and I'm not real sure he's not normally like that because I don't see him play every week.

I used to think Andre and Fitz used to be on the same level, but I definitely give Fitz the clear cut lead at best WR in the game now.

                            • To me, there's no one "clear-cut" best WR in the NFL. You could make a case for too many guys. Johnson's pretty damn good, though, and so is Fitz. Johnson's consistency can be a problem, but it is what it is.

                              Woot, 25K! I'm comin' for ya, D!

Why is there no "clear-cut" best WR in the NFL? But there is a clear cut best WR in the NFC East? LOL.

Congrats! 25K already? Must be a lot of fluff. ;)
