  • Week 6 Raiders @ 49ers

This game has been circled on my calender since the schedule came out. Cable said today that if healthy Gradkowski will get the start, and he is going to have a MRI today or tomorrow. Gallery is expected to practice and play, which is good, maybe we slide Loper to RG now? No word still on McFadden, probably will be 50/50 if he plays or not. Im fine with Bush taking the carries but I still want to see what we will do with both healthy

The best thing for Bruce is probably to sit a week out and let that shoulder rest.2 straight weeks he got knocked out the game.
Greg Gross @VittorioTafur Al Davis' scholarship program has died with him. With Hue, it's nothing personal, and nothing sentimental, either. It's gladiator school now. Perform or perish., period.

Whoever the QB is, I expect our offense to surprise a lot of people this week. San Francisco's defense is ranked in the 20's in virtually every category, and it seems as if we're starting to figure out that it's a good idea to get Miller and Murphy the ball in the passing game. If McFadden returns, we should have three solid options in the passing game.

This game really worries me, the niners are hungry for their first win and will come out swingin'. I honestly can't see Bruce playing, he tried to play hurt last game and didn't look like himself. Hopefully Campbell will check us down to victory. Whats up with Groves' hammy - I liked scott at WLB, sure he cant cover the flats but he is terrible setting the edge in our run D when he's playing DE.

Both Gallery and DMC are back at practice today, very good news. I would still limit DMC's touches to around 12 this game to just make sure he doesnt get hurt. Use him in more passing downs and some carries. Lets Bush pound the ball like last week. Be interesting to see if Loper goes to RG for Carlisle

This one means a lot. Not only the bay area rivalry, but we could get to .500 and only 2 games(or 1 game) out of first place.. We have to win this if we're serious about a playoff run.

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Jason Campbell will start at quarterback for the Oakland Raiders this week against San Francisco in place of the injured Bruce Gradkowski.

Coach Tom Cable said Gradkowski threw a few balls Friday for the first time since injuring his right shoulder last week against San Diego and will be questionable for the game. Cable says that if Gradkowski feels good during warmups Sunday, he could be the backup to Campbell.
Campbell did not do a bad job last week, but let's see what he does when he is in there for the full game. Bruce is as tough as they come, but he is getting some serious injury concerns. Both knees last year, pec at the start of training camp, and now a shoulder injury.

FML. Don't forget how awful we looked week 1 and the 1st half of week 2 when Campbell started. It's gonna be a long Sunday.

We should be able to run the ball at least. Campbell has got to go down the field.

Three things that have me more optimistic this time around:

                        1) Gallery is back
                        2) Offensive line has progressed since the first couple of weeks
                        3) Campbell has a better understanding of what he needs to do to be successful in this offense, and that no longer means holding onto the ball and trying to play in the mold of an Al Davis QB; Captain Checkdown is all he needs to be, as long as the running game doesn't falter at any point

Here's why we need to win this game.

The Oakland Raiders called around the league this week and let it be known that any of their players are available in a trade, according to league sources.

Raiders players that have drawn interest around the league since training camp began include linebacker Thomas Howard and cornerback Chris Johnson.

This is not the first time the Raiders have made exploratory calls of this variety, offering up any number of players on their roster.

The same thing happened at this time last year as well, just before the trade deadline, when the Raiders were willing to conduct a fire sale of their roster but then never made any moves.

The same could happen this year, but if the Raiders do not perform the way they hope Sunday versus San Francisco, the likelihood that the team makes a deal or two before Tuesday's trade deadline could increase.

We should have dealt Nnamdi last year, but he has got to go..nothing against him of course.

Gameday!! This is another important game today. Winning today could get us .5 back of the division lead. We MUST stop the run. If we can hold them under 150 rushing yards we will win.
