  • Killed Arroyo early, then held on late. Lidge with his first save, Hamels seemed to battle well through spotty control.

But at least part of the reason I'm not worried is because neither of them are exactly setting the world on fire either.

      • That is fine. I'd rather have them play from ahead than have to try to catch up to 2 other teams late.

        • It would certainly be a lot harder to do it this year than it was last year, becuase the Braves are improved and the Mets are improved, though I don't think the Mets are that much better than last year, like everyone else seems to believe.

          • Decent start for Jamie Moyer with 6 IP and only 2 R's allowed. Bullpen shuts the door for 3 innings. Phils win 5-2.

            • And make it to .500, which is ahead of our main threats.

              • I'm not worried about our main threats right now. More interested in having a 15 win April.

That woudl be very nice to have, and it is in the realm of possibilities.

                  • Didn't I say that Kyle Kendrick was going to struggle this year?

Don't you know that you can't judge a player by two games?

                      • That is true, but I'll take what I can get at this stage. My prediction has been quite on target as of now.

                        • True, but he has the whole year to turn things around. I say if he wins half of his games that would be better than you expect, am I correct?

                          • If Kendrick wins 12 games this year with an ERA around 4.00, I will be surprised, but very happy.

                            • To be honest I am expecting 10 or 11 wins, with an ERA in the high 4s, which is what I would call an acceptable year for him.

                              • Kendrick isn't the key to this season. I don't expect him to be a starter on this team after 2009. Between Outman, Carrasco, and Savery and assuming that Myers and Hamels remain long term, plus Andrew Carpenter and Drabek. To me, that screams Kendrick as a #5 down the road at best.
