  • Week 2: @ Panthers

The Panthers... the main reason we drafted 2 DTs with our first two picks this year. I think we will see a lot of 4 man fronts with McCoy at DE and Price/Miller/Sims at DT to get some size against their run game. This front worked well against the Browns.

Talib coming back to shut down Steve Smith is huge. Their passing game looks awful with either Moore or Clausen.

If the offense can give us 2 TDs, i think its a win. I have faith in Freechise.

I don't know about pulling a win against them. Especially on their field.

Those RBs give me nightmares. I have hope, but not much.

Glad Peppers is no longer there. But Beason is a beast. They still have a pretty good O-line, IMO.

Look at the game last year at their house. Freeman threw 5 picks and it was still a winnable game in the 4th quarter. Our defense shut them down after the 1st quarter, and now we add McCoy, Price, S. Jones, etc.

Plus Otah might be out again.

I think our defense can be really really good especially with Talib back... we have so much speed at all 3 levels.

Freeman just has to keep improving each week.

Lil Jimmy C throwing against Talib makes me happy.
He'll have enough picks to make up for not playing week 1.
Load the box, put all ******* 11 for all I care.
Jimmy is a NFLDC heart throb, but ain't ****, he's going to look like a damn fool.

I like the "jumbo" front that Morris used at times.
If the Giants can shut down the Panthers run game, we have a shot.

Hey if Clausen is starting he is going to have to throw the ball some time. I know Carolina has 2 stud running backs but if we can redirect them in the backfield that will give the rest of the d a chance to corral them.
We will see tho. GO BUCS!!

Really hoping Olson opens up the playbook. We have some weapons, albeit they are unknown. But I really want to see them get creative with Huggy and Caddy. I think K2 has a big game this week.
Really hope the Safety play improves, they are going to have to step up against the Panthers RB's.

Dope sig sloppy joe, but anyways i'd rather play Clausen than play Moore. Just bring 8 up in the box, and make Clausen throw it. I see McCoy getting his first sack this, Carolina's o-line is so banged up.

i thought olson did a decent job with the playcalling on sunday. we really tried to get the run game going. had some nice playaction passes where we wanted to get deep.
                  overall i liked olsons game

                  McCoy was a beast !!!

yep just another outstanding BK production

It's reported that Moore has practiced. I came across the stats from Carolina 1st game, they gave up 5 sacks(mostly by the DEs) and Williams 62yrds and Stewart 5-12 yrds anybody else smelling a big game by the D Line? I know I am

i rewatched the last game and our defense put pressure on delhome on every play in the second half and most of the first half. he did get the ball to check down or threw them away, but hes a vet (not a good one, but a vet ;) ). moore or clausen will be under heavy pressure on every passing down. idon't know if those QB's will get the ball away.
I'm smelling the big game, too

I really like our chances against Carolina, simply because if our d-line puts pressure on Moore/Clausen like they did against Cleveland, they will force turnovers. Moore made poor decisions under pressure. We need to stop the run though however. Both backs always torch us, but we looked good in the 2nd half on Sunday. Also, I'd like to see Cody Grimm get some time at Safety. Wasnt overall impressed with Sean Jones and I think Grimm is a physical beast that is going to have a future with us and should split time as the 3rd safety rather than Sabby.

Offensively, Bucs need to run the ball effectively, both between the tackles and outside. Thats where we need to get Huggy and his 4.3 speed involved. If he sees a whole, he explodes through it. Freeman hinted that his thumb affected his play as he said there were a lot of hidden yardage and easy throws that he should have completed. (like that moxy). Freeman has really showed better decision making throughout the pre-season and the first game. He needs to move the ball, stay accurate and make good decisions and they'll be fine.

The o-line needs to protect the QB better and I think thats where Zuttah is going to come in and play guard more on passing downs. They need to open up more wholes for the back.

Prediction: Tampa Bay in a tight one, 20-13

I think with Carolina's O-Line is beat up and if it wasn't for 3 lucky INT's by Giants WR's not being able to handle passes, Carolina might not have reach 10 points. I think either QB will be rattled and our interior d-line generated a lot of pressure (Price and McCoy are BEASTS!).

                        Stats:
                        QB:
                        Freeman 16-23 215 yds 1td

                        Huggins 7 car 37 yds
                        Graham 3 car 10 yds

                        D. Williams(Car) 20 car 82 yds
                        J. Stewart- 14 58 yds 1 td

                        Winslow 4 REC 55 yds 1 TD
                        Stroughter 3 REC 33 yds

                        Laffell 3 cath 28 yds

                        DEF:
                        TAMPA: 3 sacks 2 ints 1 ff

The Panthers have made some adjustments up front, necessitated by Vincent's departure and some injuries in 2009. Jordan Gross is back at left tackle after spending the second half of 2009 on injured reserve. Travelle Wharton, who moved from left guard to left tackle after Gross's injury, is back at his original spot. That has pushed Mackenzy Bernadeau, who took over at left guard after Wharton's shift, to right guard, where he replaces Vincent. Jeff Otah is designated as the starting right tackle but didn't play in the opener due to a knee injury, and he did not practice on Wednesday. Geoff Schwartz, who started the last three games of 2009 at that spot, filled in again in the opener.

Jeff Otah missing his 2nd game would be huge for us. Contain the run and we will be 2-0.

Agreed. Make Moore or Clausen beat us, with Talib back he should keep S. Smith in check. If we can contain their run then we will be good.

SloppyJoe - I don't know how you can say Olson called a good game. Play calling for the most part was predictable.
If Carolina is going to play the run and make Freeman pass then we will get the matchups we want. I look for Freeman to have a big game Sunday.
