  • i think theres a definite chance locker could slip into the second. a team could fall in love with him at senior bowl and combine too but its just as likely i think he could slip. im just not sure how much i want him now. the upside and potential is clearly there but i havent seen this year what i would consider a future franchise stud qb when i watch him play. he likely needs at least 2-3 years to develop and im just not sure hell get that chance in dc.

    • So we have officially locked up that 10th pick. Should be quite interesting to see if we trade up or trade back and who may slide to that position in the draft.

      • The way Anthony Bryant looked makes me scratch my head why he wasn't on the roster and why we had to suffer through Kemo's horrible play. Maybe he can be our nose so we don't have to use a mid round pick on one or even our 2nd on a Phil Taylor or Powe. If we stay at 10 and don't go QB the 4 guys I am looking at are Darreus, Fairley, Blackmon, and Julio. Hopefully though if we don't go QB we can trade down. Won't be against trading up either if it lands us a franchise QB. I hope Gabbert declares I kind of like him.

          • The order is fine except I absolutely hate Locker so that 3 spot for me would be Cam or Mallett I'll be watching them closer this week, also wouldn't touch Baldwin in the top 20 let alone with the 10th pick. I'd also have defense as a need before WR depending on who's available. Trade down though is the best option if we don't go QB but it's always hard to find a trade partner. I have a feeling that a trade up is more likely. I'm staring to consider Robert Quinn more. You can find a nose and DE in mid rounds or through free agency but a true impact rusher in a 3-4 is crutial, just look at the Clay Matthews impact. You simply can't have a single pass rusher in a 34 which was Orakpo this year. Quinn could change the whole dynamics of the team. Also a reach and I am a local homer but Kenny Tate is the perfect complement to Landry. Something to think about although more in a trade down scenario.

              • BB for me is more like this right now.

                Andrew Luck
                AJ Green
                Cam Newton
                Marcel Dareus

                Justin Fairley
                Julio Jones
                Ryan Mallett

                Trade Down
                Cam Jordan
                Adrian Clayborn
                Ryan Kerrigan
                Allen Bailey
                Kenny Tate
                Von Miller

I like these lists but I don't want anything to do with Newton (at least this year), and I don't think Tate is a 1st rounder (maybe with our second rounder but even that's a reach, IMO).

                  • Really all the QB's beyond Luck are boom or busts, Cam is the one I like the best because his running base will bail him out early in his career like VY while he develops as a passer. He isn't asked to make reads but his pure throwing motion and arm strength is impressive. Locker to me is just scary. He looks like a running back more than a QB. He's more of a running QB than Cam as strange as that sounds. I know Cam has more yards but 90% of Cam's yards are called run plays. When it's a pass play he shows nice patience and doesn't bolt unless he needs to. Locker bolts the second his first read is covered. Obviously Auburn as a superior O-line but every time I watch locker I am disguisted. I see the tools because he's big, strong, fast, and has great arm strength but his accuracy is horrendous and his decision making is suspect. Will evaluate Mallet closer but he is the most refined passer of the 3. Negatives though are lack of mobility, at time accuracy, and he has no change of speeds his throws. Everything is a fastball. No touch on his passes which Cam does have. Throwing one speed in the NFL leads to INT's. Will evaluate closer though starting with the BCS game.

                    • QB Blaine Gabbert is starting to get more attention, will he end up a top ten pick-above both Newton and Locker?

One guy to add to the list.

                      • Gabbert's an interesting guy. He's plagued by horrendous pocket presence, but has good tools and an arm. Personally, I'm looking in the later rounds if I'm the Redskins or in FA.

Anthony Bryant has been impressive these last few weeks. It's a small sample size, but I think he could be the NT of the future. Next Antonio Garay, coming out of nowhere that is.

                        • I wouldn't touch Gabbert for us. I like he's declaring because he's an extra name but I see him as a limited WC QB. Has good arm strength and good short accuracy but he has the worst deep ball in the draft. Couldn't hit a 40 yard fly to an open receiver. Don't like his fit for us and don't think Shanny will either.

                          • wasnt too impressed with mallet last night. a few nice throws but not a guy i watched and saw as a top 10 qb.

                            • i was over at this other draft site and some dudes trying to say that gabbert is the best fit for shanahans offense and that newton doesnt fit shanahans style at all...face palm.

                              • I thought Mallett looked OK. He had a lot pressure in his face all night from the OSU Dline. Made some very nice touch throws for TDs in the corner. His accuracy was inconsistent at times but also there were A LOT of drops by his WRs last night in key spots that would have swung the game. However, I will say that sometimes even when he does hit a WR he makes it tough for them to catch by throwing to high/low/wrong shoulder.

His mobility in the pocket looked good enough, not great. Not expecting him to break off huge scrambles.

I feel like his release/windup was a little slow but I was slightly distracted because I was cooking during the game. I thought he showed good poise though in this game.

I don't think he looked like a top 10 QB but I don't think I would mind if the Skins took him there or maybe traded back and picked him up. However, this is not taking Character issues into account as I'm not privy to that information.

I'll wait to see Newton, but I think I'd rather have him after Luck from what I've seen this year.
