  • I saw The Mist last night and I must say, for a downright awful movie with one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen played by Marcia *** Harden (a terrific actress no less), it had an incredible ending.

I think the film had great potential, but it should have took a more Jaws-like approach to the "monsters" that are in the mist. Just seeing those Dreamcatcher, another awful movie, monsters is simply stupid and incredibly off putting for me. These big stupid bugs, everything about these creaters are corny and cheesy. I really struggle to accept bugs like this in movies. If I was five and I still thought monsters were in my closet while I went to sleep, I might find these things scary, but I don't so I don't.

The final ten minutes of the film and the decisions made by the lead character are simply incredible. That kind of hopelessness is rarely caught on screen and it take balls to end a movie like that (Not sure if that was taken straight from King or changed during adaptation). It almost made up for an otherwise terrible movie, but I honestly couldn't sit through the first 2 hours all over again just to see it. It kinda pisses me off to see such a great ending attached to such a **** movie.

The scene where the guy walks into the mist with a rope around his waist... INCREDIBLE scene... the guy that gets taken from one of the monsters and pulled under a garage door... AWFUL. When the monsters break into the supermarket and they set 'em on fire and beat them with broom handles... AWFUL!

A movie like this... less is more. Way too long as well. Two hours of people in a grocery store? I laughed way too much for a movie that takes itself this seriously.

    • Meet Trixie and the other new characters of Toy Story 3. Get to know them, because (hell yes) they will be on our screens in a few months! Don't let the world EVER tell you that you are too old for Toy Story. Ever.

      And the man himself....

      • Darabont changed the ending of The Mist. In King's story it was different. King also did say he wished he had thought of that.

          • This was a very solid, if somewhat slow, drama. Good acting, fairly uneventful storyline, but overall engaging, and a great cast. I enjoyed it.

I liked The Mist. I think the movie's ending is better than the story.

              • Toy Story 3 should be epic. Pixar has never made anything short of spectacular, so I am pumped.

A flick called Everybody's Fine, starring Robert De Niro, Sam Rockwell, Kate Beckinsale, and Drew Barrymore.

                        • John Krasinski a sure thing to be cast as Captain America? I love me some Jim from The Office, but I've never thought of him as a superhero character. Ummm...?

Heath Ledger showed a lot more range than Krasinski has to this point, not that I don't think John can do it. Joker is a way harder role to play than Captain America though.
