Sweeney Todd was easily the favorite for Best Costume Design, and the predictions were correct! The next award is Best Art Direction. Will Smith and Salma Hayek will be presenting the award.

A surprise winner by Sweeney Todd with Art Direction, but an award well-deserved! The next award is highly contested and could go to any of the nominees. Jessica Alba and Edward Norton will present the award for Best Cinematography.

No Country For Old Men was thought by many to be the superior screenplay and it proved it here tonight. Our next two awards are for Best Supporting Actor and Actress. There are up and coming stars, established superstars and more in this category, so it will be interesting to see who wins. Presenting the awards are Alan Arkin, due to his brilliant performance last year in "Little Miss Sunshine," and one of the best British actresses of this era, Dame Judi Dench.

Many people thought that Philip Seymour Hoffman was a shoe-in for Best Supporting actor, but Javier Bardem's outstanding performance netted him a Commie! Next up, we have one of the electrifying awards, Best Director! With some excellent directors like the Coen Brothers, Tim Burton, and Ridley Scott. The presenters are two well-respected people in the film industry, Meryl Streep and Steven Spielberg.

Wow, No Country For Old Men is starting to pick up steam, but Sweeney Todd has won only one less award. Will either win Best Picture? But now, we move to other top awards. Best Actor and Actress are some of the most highly sought after awards in the industry. Who will the Commies go to? Helen Mirren, who was inspirational in her role The Queen, will present along with Forest Whitaker who played one of the cruelest men in mankind, Idi Amin. Let's go to the podium!

A bit of commentary on this one. DDL was WITHOUT A DOUBT the best in this category. With great performances from mega stars like Depp, Denzel, and Clooney, and Viggo emerging into a star with a spectacular performance in "Eastern Promises", it should say a lot that this was such an easy choice for me. If there was a "Hall of Fame" for these awards, DDL in "There Will Be Blood" would be an immediate inductee. In my opinion, his performance as Daniel Plainview was at LEAST, the best of this century, and up there with the best of all time. Richard Roeper said that Daniel Day Lewis is up there in a territory where only those the likes of Marlon Brando would occupy, and I couldn't agree more. I hope people realize how lucky we are to be able to watch an actor like Day Lewis, even if those chances to watch him only comes once every few years.
