  • Although I do realize we're playing Rider, Kentucky has looked much better as they have previously. Orton, Patterson and Bledsoe all looking really good. Wall had a nasty finish on a fast break too.

He's not even close to just a three point specialist. He's a great shooter sure but he's turned into a pretty good defender and is a great passer.

            • Other than going to the Clarion game, this is the first UK game I've had a chance to see live all year because of freaking work and school. It was nice, I won't let that happen during SEC play.

Everyone deserves a little John Wall in their life, keep in mind this is just from today :D

              • Nice travel at 2:32. ;)

Wall is pretty sick. My question though is if teams shut off his dribble penetration, will he be able to knock down shots?

That's the one thing Derrick had to learn and has developed in the last couple years. He's now a threat to score both inside and outside, which makes him even more dangerous when he gets his shot going.

I would say the main difference between the two is that John seems to have a cockiness/swagger about him, whereas Derrick is much more shy and quiet. I would also say that Derrick is more explosive, whereas John seems to be more acrobatic (more artistic in how he gets to the hoop).

I'm not necessarily sure I agree but here's something he thinks:

                      • Wall has a nice mid-range shot which he is deadly with, definitely needs to work on the 3 ball. However, it doesn't look like there will be a lot of teams that will be able to keep him in front of them consistently. He has a swagger about him that we've all been dying for but he's also a good guy, several of the opposing teams coaches have commented on this.

He will develop a 3 pointer with time, he just hasn't had the need to this point. It won't be at UK that he does it but I'm sure 4-5 years from now in the NBA he will be solid from the outside.

I knew he could score but his ability to get to the line AND finish after contact is amazing. I figured he'd be around 13-15 a game but he's looking more like 18-20.

                        • I know it's early, but this is Evan Turner's stat line so far this season:

                          21.8 PPG
                          14.8 RPG
                          6.0 APG

Those are LeBron James type numbers at the college level. I'm not comparing Evan Turner to LeBron James, but he has the same type of game, just not to the LBJ extent.
