Hampton

This year Hampton is sending out 4 or 5 players who have real chances of being drafted.(Coleman, McDaniel, Bain Durant)
In 2005 Jerome Mathis, a former Hampton WR, ran a 4.28 at the combine and was picked in the 4th round by the Texans and went to the pro bowl as a KR.
This year they finished with a 10-2 record and were first in their division.
This leads me to question why Hampton, who has had many talented players and typically has good records isnt 1A yet.
I do realize that they have to have a stadium of a certain size, but regardless this team has the talent and coaching to play 1A.
Any thoughts?

Hampton is good because they have talented players who can't perform in school, but hey they would do better than Duke or Carolina in the ACC.

Exactly (about Duke) can anybody remeber a time when that team was any good? Hampton would kill Duke in a game.

Yeah actually I remember Duke being very good quite recently around the late 80's when Steve Spurrier was the coach they were really good and maybe it was 88 or something they won the ACC title. Also in the mid 90's they had a couple winning seasons and I remember were even ranked in the top 25 for a while.

its probably due to school size and attendance at games. those are two of the things they look at. I only know this cause WKU is the new D1 school starting 2008 i think

virginia only wants 2 1a football schools right now, and they get all the leftover 757 talent that doents have the grades to get into VT or UVa
