Morgan, Rucker staying with Panthers after restructured deals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Dan Morgan and Mike Rucker will return to the Carolina Panthers next season after agreeing to restructured contracts Thursday.

The Panthers also restructured quarterback Jake Delhomme's contract and released veteran special teams player Karl Hankton.

P.S. My first post on the new board looks good.

Hopefully he can bounce back.

I'm a big Morgan fan as well I hate that he has never really been 100% pretty much his whole time in the NFL.

Yeah, most of it was probably from me. I heard from Gantt and Yasinskas two usually VERY reliable panthers sources that the Front Office wasn't going to clear him to play.

I guess they've realised we cannot head into next season without him, healthy or otherwise. I think we'll still go linebacker in the draft though, just not in the first.

I don't like the Rucker resigning, he's in his thirties and hasn't been a force since his probowl year in 03. Not to mention his injury woes. With such a deep class of DEs this year I would've much rathered we cut him, sign a FA linebacker with the cap space we'd saved and then take a LB, S in the first and a second round DE like Abraimi. Can't have it all though :(
