Plummer to retire

here is the link http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/DEN/10033012 how funny is that

GSOT 03-02-2007 12:33 PM

Hilarious.

The Unseen 03-02-2007 12:34 PM

Broncos fans: "Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!"

BX 03-02-2007 12:35 PM

What a *****. He still had a lot left to offer a team.

Do you think his ego was destroyed by the Cutler thing?

Anyway, what a *****.

slightlyaraiderfan 03-02-2007 12:35 PM

Beautiful, I always knew there was a reason I liked Plummer

Xiomera 03-02-2007 12:39 PM

HA! He just didn't want to go to Tampa.

bsaza2358 03-02-2007 12:41 PM

Wow. A QB with at least 4 decent years left decided to retire rather than come to your city. Eat it up, Bucs!!!

Chucky 03-02-2007 12:41 PM

looks like the bucs are back in the garcia sweepstakes

Geo 03-02-2007 12:49 PM

Jake the Snake would rather retire than play for Jon Gruden and what he's done with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Sounds about right.

ks_perfection 03-02-2007 12:49 PM

Im glad he retired, it was a dumb trade. I dont'see why you'd trade for Plummer and his salary instead of just signing Garcia.

Agreed. Good point.

Jay 03-02-2007 01:07 PM

He's probably just trying to force his release...

Diehard 03-02-2007 01:11 PM

I'm not sure I see how retiring helps him. Don't they still retain his rights and no longer have to cut him on June 1?

I have this nagging feeling that he wants a say in his destination, and the so-called retirement is just leverage. Perhaps Houston?

Splat 03-02-2007 01:17 PM

There's talk/speculation/ in league circles that Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer is using the retirement card as a ploy to get traded to Houston.

Though there was a report a week ago out of Denver that Plummer could pack it in, there was no hard evidence that he might quit until after news broke that Plummer would be traded to the Bucs for a fourth-round pick.

If Plummer retires, he'd potentially owe the team the portion of any signing bonus that applies to the three remaining years of his contract. And the Broncos have a history of playing hardball in matters of this nature -- just ask Dale Carter, Daryl Gardener, Eddie Kennison, and Ashley Lelie.

Just posting it could be BS.

comahan 03-02-2007 01:25 PM

Anything to keep him away from Houston.

Titans10 03-02-2007 01:28 PM

I cant believe he would retire, he still has a few good years left in him.

I guess he is tired of making bonehead plays. so now he made a bonehead decision in retiring

Jimmy 03-02-2007 01:31 PM

saving the benjamins

basically, i laugh in his face for thinking he'll somehow still be marketable in a year after sitting out this season.

Is it true that he is going to come back? Or is he really retiring for good?

Grid 03-02-2007 01:42 PM

He will come out of retirements just before the training camp. I assure you and he will get cut or traded at that time.

Homicide 03-02-2007 01:43 PM

He is bein a wuss

Addict 03-02-2007 02:40 PM

wow. Jake must be stupid. He actually had chance of starting over in tampa and decides to chicken out? Wat the hell is wrong with that guy?

Anyway, time for me to go have a drink with my friends, have a nice day everyone!

Vikes99ej 03-02-2007 02:48 PM

He really must hate being in nice weather.

Plummer wants to dictate his own future as to where he wants to play next year and this is the reason I opted to retire right now.

He will come out of retirements just before the training camp begins and he will get cut by the broncos then he will end up in Houston with Kubiak.

I don't think Denver wants to carry a QB as a back up who will make more then 7 MM.

Geo 03-02-2007 04:46 PM

If being paid your full multi-million salary for holding your clipboard and rooting for Jay Cutler to do a better job is a form of punishment, then that's punishment I wouldn't mind being served on myself.
