The Raiders reached agreement Friday evening with Atlanta 's free-agent fullback Justin Griffith on a three-year, $3.8 million contract, completing a whirlwind day of activity in Oakland. The deal is contingent upon Griffith passing his physical.

pretty good pickup..versatile FB who can catch and be a weapon.

Sveen 03-09-2007 06:11 PM

Good signing by Oakland. Does this mean that Crockett most likely will be cut?

Shiver 03-09-2007 06:12 PM

Knapp bringing in someone he's familiar with.

slightlyaraiderfan 03-09-2007 06:15 PM

Nice, we finally have a real FB.

toonsterwu 03-09-2007 06:17 PM

pretty solid deal, cost wise, length wise, and fit wise. They've made some nice moves/gambles, with Dominic Rhodes, Justin Griffith, and Jeremy Newberry. A healthy Newberry would do a lot for them inside.

Caddy 03-09-2007 06:17 PM

Nice deal and that seems like a pretty cheap contract

Komp 03-09-2007 06:20 PM

Two thumbs up....the Raiders have made some good personnel moves this year. I think Kiffin was a good choice and most of the assistants are top notch. Bringing in good veterans will help the rebuilding process a lot.

Vince Lombardi 03-09-2007 06:25 PM

boooooo oooooo ooooooo oooooooooooooo

Splat 03-09-2007 06:26 PM

Great move for them great young all around FB.

D-Unit 03-09-2007 06:29 PM

2 good moves in 1 day! Nice job! I'm slowly starting to see that explosive offense Lane was talking about.

Now are they getting Russell or CJ??? Hmmm...

Paranoidmoonduck 03-09-2007 06:31 PM

I can dig this move. Crockett was never a great blocker, but he is certainly on the decline in that category these days.

Man_Of_Steel 03-09-2007 06:33 PM

3 year 3.8 mill. Great signing. One of the best so far. heck of a player.

Splat 03-09-2007 06:37 PM

Even as a Chiefs fan if the Raiders cut Zack Crockett I will kinda miss him he has been there along time it will be wired not seeing him twice a year...

49ersfan_87 03-09-2007 06:38 PM

I like this move. I think the raiders are doing a good job this offseason. Rid of walker and brooks, add rhodes and griffith. If newberry is healthy thats a steal too, though i doubt it.

The Unseen 03-09-2007 06:38 PM

It's a nice

art vandelay 03-09-2007 06:40 PM

Hmmm...another instance where money talks I guess.

TheChampIsHere 03-09-2007 06:41 PM

Im very happy about this signing. I was hoping all along we'd get him. A FB who is a good lead blocker but also an offensive weapon, major upgrade over Crockett, who I suspect will now get cut unless we want to keep him as a short yardage specialist. With Jordan, Rhodes, Fargas and Griffith I suddenly feel pretty good about our backfield. No one great but a nice group of players and thats worked for other teams. Now if we can just get them some blocking.....

You guys should draft OL in the first 5 rounds. Starting off with Joe Thomas.

PACKmanN 03-09-2007 06:45 PM

why couldnt TT give him 1.2 million a year or alest 2 million a year. :(

RaiderNation 03-09-2007 06:58 PM

a veristile weapon who can catch, run and block. rhodes, jordan and griffith... pretty good

bearsfan_51 03-09-2007 07:03 PM

Haha...the one player the Packers thought they were going to get.

eaglesalltheway 03-09-2007 07:08 PM

This is the first good FB the Raiders have had in a while. He will certainly help the offense.

Xiomera 03-09-2007 07:17 PM

Seems like a relatively cheap contract for a pretty good fullback, considering Mughelli got the biggest contract ever by a fullback last week . . .

etk 03-09-2007 07:23 PM

His agent must not be very good because that contract is awfully low for one of the best fullbacks in the league. He's the first guy to get underpaid this offseason IMO.
