College Football Teams with no University in name?
 

Can you name the teams that don't have university in their name. Out of the 119 NCAAF Bowl Subdivision teams (like LSU, USC, Georgia)?

Note:You have to think about these because a team like Cal is actually named University of California-Berkeley.

Georgia Tech, Army, Navy, Air Force, Boston College

I think that's it.

Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnical Institute)

Texas Tech
Texas A&M?

Texas Tech University
Texas Agricultural & Mechanical University

VPI changed to Virginia Technical U. didnt they? Changed also from the Gobblers (turkeys) to Hokies (whatever they are, different bird I think) sometime in the 70s. Like Auburn used to be Alabama Ploytechnical Institute -- now API stands primarily for Application Programming Interface if you google it up.

I believe this research to be accurate (and GB12 was correct)

Of the 120 schools included in the FBS (121 if you count South Alabama), only five do not include "University" in their school name. The list includes (in alphabetical order)...


Air Force (United State Air Force Academy)
Army (United States Military Academy at West Point)
Boston College
Georgia Tech (Georgia Institute of Technology)
Navy (United States Naval Academy)
