Donovan McNabb vs Mike Shanahan

What is there to make of all this situation? It seems like ever since the benching all kinds of reports are coming out, so who is to blame? Should Shanny have done more homework before giving up the picks to get him, did McNabb not do enough work once traded, is this why TO was pissed off with him in the SB, or is Shanny just overrated as a Head Coach in general?

I have a hard time understand how putting a cold Rex Grossman in late in the game in crunchtime makes sense anyway.

Per ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan had to cut the playbook in half in order for Donovan McNabb to learn it.
It doesn't end there. McNabb reportedly struggles with calling plays in the huddle from the abridged playbook. It's rare that stories of this nature leak out about such high profile quarterbacks, and it's another signal that Shanahan and McNabb won't be working together in the future. As for this season, things look just as murky.

Head coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan have denied a report that they're unhappy with Donovan McNabb's work ethic.
Kyle also added that it wasn't totally "cardiovascular endurance" why McNabb was benched like Mike suggested. The Shanahans can claim that they have faith in McNabb all they want, but they showed how much trust they have in him when they brought JaMarcus Russell in for a workout Tuesday. McNabb is clearly on thin ice, at best, in Washington.

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Redskins' disappointment with Donovan McNabb is "the worst kept secret in the league" and Mike Shanahan has not been happy with the way McNabb practices.
Mort also reports that Shanahan thought about benching the star quarterback after the team's Week 4 win. McNabb is a team captain and seemingly has support in the locker room. Shanahan is clearly sending McNabb a message heading into the bye week, though it's hard to imagine him getting benched permanently. That being said, you can't rule anything out.

On top of all of this, they have came out with 3-4 different excuses/reasons for why he was benched, which seemingly changes everytime. I'm not sure what the hell is going on here, but I will say for all the flack TO caught for calling out McNabb in the SB, maybe he made some really good points in hindsight. He was roasted for that, but he manned up on 1 leg and risked his career and if he felt a guy wasn't doing the same then he had every right to say so.

But it looks like a terrible move if you were only keeping him for 1 season, weren't gonna make the playoffs anyway, and now you played yourself out of position for an elite QB.

Post-Elway, Shanahan has made a career winning with smart QBs that maybe weren't drafted thta high. This is nothing new with McNabb, so I tend to believe those rumors. Stanzi or Keenum would be great fits in Shanahan's offense.

I had to help McNabb screw in a light bulb, once. True story.

The funniest thing, to me, is that you did both Andy Reid and Mike Holmgren, and the last pose looks the same.

Ya, I'm gonna go ahead and side with the guy that made Bubby Brister look like a stud.
