Who will be the next Dallas Head Coach

I'd say for 2011, but just in case there's no football next season, left it open-ended.

Will Jerry Jones bring in a big name coach, or stick with the quiet Jason Garrett?

Jvig43 11-08-2010 09:07 PM

Im pretty sure thats already been announced. But any excuse to make a thread right?

Comedian.
He's the interim guy and people down here on all the radio channels are talking about the next guy.
Actually, not just here in Dallas. Wow, jealous of the Dallas talk?:

NBC Sports weighs-in: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...d-the-cowboys/

Jvig43 11-08-2010 09:14 PM

Im very jealous of the 1- and whatever win Cowboys. You got me.

Shane P. Hallam 11-08-2010 09:19 PM

I have a feeling it will be John Fox...

ElectricEye 11-08-2010 09:21 PM

If I were a Cowboys fan, I would want Cowher. You have the players to run his style of defense in place already and there wouldn't be anything to worry about with Ware and switching to the 4-3 and such.

Hurricanes25 11-08-2010 09:23 PM

I doubt it will be Cowher. He wants control but so does Jerry Jones...

That's who I wanted to vote for. I think that'd be the right move, but it just can't happen. Carolina is worse than the Cowboys. I don't think Jones would hire a guy fresh off such a bad season.

I went with Gruden.

I think the problem with these two is that they are too established to be Jerry's Yes Men. Its a well known fact that Jones runs the show down in Dallas and its very unlikely that he's going to surrender any kind of control to whoever they bring in to be the next coach. Gruden is absolutely out of the question if you ask me, I've a feeling he'd rather stay and broadcast then go coach somewhere he doesn't have a ton of influence on his squad. Fox could be more likely, but again I think he ends up somewhere where he gets a little more control over the team and what goes on there.

Didn't Cowher's wife just die? I would think that would maybe change his future plans, maybe not but still I'd be surprised to see him return by next season.

niel89 11-08-2010 09:44 PM

Just to be a little different I went with Brian Billick. I think Jerry wants an established coach and not guy who has never been a head coach. I don't know if Gruden or Cowher want to go into such a high profile/pressure job. Gruden seems like he is having fun every week on MNF and might enjoy being free of the responsibilities of being a head coach. Billick seems like a guy that will help sell those tickets and boxes with Jerry

The Baltimore Sun wrote an article about this a few days ago and it seemed fair enough:

Fox is a good friend of Jerry's.

CashmoneyDrew 11-08-2010 09:46 PM

I voted Gruden. As long as it's not Fisher.

fenikz 11-08-2010 10:19 PM

omg please make it Denny Green

vidae 11-08-2010 10:19 PM

Isn't it about time Leslie Frazier got a shot? I voted him.

indeed sir

boknows34 11-08-2010 10:31 PM

Schefter said at HT that it won't be Cowher. I voted Gruden.

MidwayMonster31 11-08-2010 10:49 PM

Lovie Smith
I can dream, can't I?
But someone who won't oppose Jerry as much would be the hire, so Billick and Cohwer are out, I'll go with John Fox.

SickwithIt1010 11-08-2010 10:54 PM

I dont think there is any chance in hell that either Gruden or Cower go, everywhere they have coached they have had a big say in the personnel decisions. Jones and those 2 dont see like very good fits.

Anyone think that Jim Harbaugh might be in the running? I think if Luck leaves hes gonna head to the NFL.

Oh he'll get an interview for sure.

I think Jerry realizes at the moment that he might have to step back a bit again and cede some control.
The best times he's ever had were with Jimmy Johnson and Big Bill there, with him toning it down a bit.

If Gruden could handle Al Davis, can he handle Jerry?

If he doesn't get a big name, the Giants DC should be his guy. Not only a bright young mind, but also to **** with the Giants.

MidwayMonster31 11-08-2010 11:15 PM

Personally, I think the Bills really should've kept Fewell as their head coach. He did a solid job last year.

Texas Homer 11-08-2010 11:48 PM

I voted Cowher, but I have no idea.

I wonder if Jerry would be interested in Saban?

RaiderNation 11-09-2010 12:56 AM

Im thinking Gruden or Garrett keeps the job

cowher didnt ever want or have control in the steelers....colbert does the drafting and the rooneys have always called most of the shots, just not in the jerry jones way...in the public

Paranoidmoonduck 11-09-2010 01:28 AM

I don't really care, but I do know that all the insufferable coverage the Cowboys get would be a lot more tolerable if Gruden were the coach. I want Chucky back on the sidelines.
