22 Million Guaranteed is not bad. But 4-58 is. I think at the final price tag will be about 4 Years, 65 Million with 28 guaranteed. Minimum.

lowlife 07-26-2011 02:13 PM

I was expecting it'd take $30+mil guaranteed to get him to wear your colors

bearsfan_51 07-26-2011 02:14 PM

5 years, 80 million, 35 guaranteed.

DoughBoy 07-26-2011 02:15 PM

I'm just so jealous of some of your teams beat writers. All ours do is say "**** its hot out here" and "I bet the titans are interested in such and such but I really haven't done anything to back that up".

That actually a little more (on a per year basis) than Peppers got last year. I think a team is going to have to break the bank for him, but I'm not sure they have to go that high.

bearsfan_51 07-26-2011 02:16 PM

Peppers also got 41 guaranteed.

I'm sure we're a contender, I just don't think we will be able to offer the kind of money CAR can/will.

If Bret Hart could get a 20 year contract Asomugha should get one too.

The guaranteed money will be north of $30M. The $14.6M figure isnt that bad at all, actually...but given how much money is out there. It will more than likely be topped. But the guaranteed money isnt even there yet on that potential offer.

He has played high school football in GA so thats where all his family is and where he grew up. If the falcons offer the same money and them being a playoff team thats tough to pass up.

Mike Brown is a moron for not entertaining trades for Palmer. You might as well get what you can, try to stockpile draft picks to build your team up in the future with the young nucleus you are using to replace Palmer and Chad Johnson.

I'm sure Palmer would be as attractive to team as Kolb or Orton is.

My favorite part about it is that Brown is bitching that Palmer signed a contract but teams have no problem cutting someone after they blow out a leg or trading them to a destination they possibly wouldn't want to go, but when Palmer says hes going to essentially quit his job if he isn't relocated (yes i am wording it like that) Brown gets all pissy about it.

SolidGold 07-26-2011 02:59 PM

I agree Winslow. I think Palmer is probably tired of the culture of losing in Cinci, he has been there almost a decade and led them to the playoffs twice. He did what he could and he was not the same QB after injuries took their toll. I do think he could still be a pretty solid QB and get some good value in return for the Begnals.

At this point, the only reason Brown isn't trading Palmer is because he'll look weak if he does. Never mind that he's cutting off his nose to spite his face, which is beyond idiotic...Just another reason why they're the Bungals. It's like saying "Hey, we don't need a free second round draft pick, we'd rather keep our principles!"

Raiderz4Life 07-26-2011 03:02 PM

Trade him to the RAIDAZ!!! Al is crazy too but he's not as bad as Mike Brown...Al is willing to spend the dough...just doesn't always spend it on the right ppl *shrug*

But when you are arrogant and prideful like Brown obviously is, that's not how your brain is going to process this. Especially if you feel scorned by somebody you have tied a lot of years, money, and emotions into. It's like an ugly breakup, you are more than willing to screw the other person, even at a bit of personal expense.

LoL, I think Mike Brown likes saving and making money more then he does winning.

16 million a year ... for a CB???

edit: I hope whoever pays that is a strong man team and not a cover 2 team like the bucs or bears...

It sounds bad, but I think people in Cincinnati will celebrate his death (he's 74, so maybe it isn't too far away) whenever it happens. He has destroyed that franchise. He has a .359 winning percentage, which equates to just under 6-10 per season. What an embarrassment!
