Per the very busy Jason La Canfora (NFL.com), the Bills are now in a bidding war with the New York Jets for the services of cornerback Drayton Florence.

Faaaaack. He's been really good the past two years, was hoping he'd be a little overlooked with some big names out there at the position, and then we could still toss him a boatload to stay. Concerned aboutthe years in this bidding war, though.

Bengals showing interest in DWill highly doubt they get him.

Who......?

EDIT: Oh.

diabsoule 07-27-2011 01:04 AM

Agree with STRIP, if the Skins ran a 4-3 right now they'd be in damn good shape. Maybe they're going to move back to one?

HeavyLeggedWaistBender 07-27-2011 01:25 AM

Jacoby Jones resigns with Houston.

And not coming to Chicago :( Really thought he'd be a great move after some Olinemen :/

...Now I'm just whining.

RaiderNation 07-27-2011 01:46 AM

Raiders are talking to Jared Gaither :). We really need to add a proven player to the oline, especially with all the youth we have. Veldheer and Gaither would be a very interesting OT duo. Then you add in Wis at C, Bruce Campbell at LG/RG....

MidwayMonster31 07-27-2011 01:53 AM

I think Justin Durant is underrated. He's got good range and speed, but he needs to be in a scheme that gives him room to work with. I've also heard that the Jags are going to a 3-4 this year and Durant would be a disaster in that scheme. I would take him on the Bears any day.

Which is exactly what scares me. I'm praying that we don't throw +$50 million on a guy who couldn't manage double digit sacks on a line with Jared Allen and the Williams brothers - he probably faced less double teams than any other DE in the league.

Very good run stuffing DE.

Not as long as Haslett keeps his job.

Jimmy 07-27-2011 07:44 AM

Takeo Spikes is headed to San Diego.

Weddle has not been signed yet per PFT. List of suitors include Jaguars, Vikings, Browns, Chargers, Texans and Cowboys.

Jarvis Moss stays w/ the Raiders on a one year deal.

Mason Crosby stays with the Packers on a 5 year deal.

Not sure if it's been posted but Doug Free is a Cowboy. 4 Years, 32 Mil
http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2011/7/2...ee-agency-2011

Either way, that's a pretty good deal IMO. good job to lock him up.

Matthew Jones 07-27-2011 08:06 AM

The Rams got a great fit with Quintin Mikell, and ditto for the Jaguars with Paul Posluszny. Both may have paid a little bit too much. I think Takeo Spikes should be a great fit in San Diego and could be one of the more underrated signings. I don't really understand why the Redskins would have paid Barry Cofield so much money. Matt Hasselbeck should fit right in as Jake Locker's mentor, and I liked the Donovan-McNabb-to-Vikings rumors - that would be a good fit as well depending on what they do with his contract. The deal is rumored to be for a sixth-rounder and a potential future sixth as well. I wonder what Kyle Orton and Kevin Kolb will fetch? Tarvaris Jackson will probably get lost in the shuffle again in Seattle, but I like taking a chance on Matt Leinart there. Charles Johnson got more money than I expected, and I think the Steelers overpaid for Ike Taylor as well as giving him too many years.

killxswitch 07-27-2011 08:07 AM

Seems like a lot of marginal-to-good players are getting an awful lot of money. It's going to be hard on teams near the cap already to sign players when guys like Paul Poslusnzy are getting $42 million contracts.

SolidGold 07-27-2011 08:17 AM

Raven...supposedly Leinart to Seattle is not a done deal yet.

jrdrylie 07-27-2011 08:29 AM

Anybody hear anything about Danieal Manning? I looks like Chicago won't be getting a big name free agent tackles or receiver, so hopefully they will resign him and salvage what has otherwise been a completely disappointing free agency period.

diabsoule 07-27-2011 08:29 AM

Mason Crosby agrees to 5 year deal with Packers

Raiders agreed to terms with long snapper Jon Condo.

Donovan McNabb will be dealt to the Vikings for two 6th round picks

I wonder why that it is, though. He ran a 4-3 during his entire stretch in New Orleans and while he was in St. Louis

Stallworth to the Redskins

diabsoule 07-27-2011 08:44 AM

Looks like Brad Smith may be signing with the #Bears today according to Michael Lombardi

Donte Stallworth has agreed to a 1 year deal with the Redskins

Falcons reach 5 year agreement with Stephen Nicholas

KC loses NT Ron Edwards to Carolina

Ughhh, I don't like that deal at all. Brad Smith doesn't really offer an upgrade at receiver. Sure, he is a good returner. But we have Hester returning punts and Danieal Manning is a good kick returner. If he comes cheap (which I doubt) it may not be bad.

And if he causes the Bears to start running some form of the Wildcat, I will be so pissed. I hate that crap.

_YL_ 07-27-2011 08:57 AM

Looks like the Jets are making a run at Aso. I would think getting a offense lineman who can protect Sanchez or help run block for Green or signing Holmes or getting a pass rusher would be a higher priority but guess not.

thenewfeature06 07-27-2011 08:59 AM

Anywhere but the Jets Aso..! (stay)

Best fit is Baltimore or Pitt.

The Bears sign Brad Smith..ooo

Nalej 07-27-2011 09:07 AM

Ugh, please no @ Aso in NY

We are working on re-signing Holmes, and WHY the hell would we sign an offensive lineman? We have one of the best lines in the league. As for a rusher, that we could use, but with Rex, he puts more value on people who can cover one on one and allow him to bring more people.

If you're unaware of what is going on in a situation, it's usually best NOT to comment on it.

This one hurts terribly.

The teams top two centers (along with Heitmann) are now gone.

Not a huge loss but does hurt the Chiefs depth.

We better officially agree to a deal with him or Holmes today. Well, even if we don't, all these rumors have me completely back in football mode.

regoob2 07-27-2011 09:16 AM

I don't understand the Brad Smith signing. Hester can return kicks.

Completely agree. Adding a guard should definitely be a priority over setting up the greatest CB tandem in modern NFL history. And tackle also, even though they literally just addressed RT and have one of the best LTs in the league.

Was just about to ask about the legitimacy of claims that Jets were interested. Now my only question is whether or not anyone has a quote of Aso claiming he would want to play in NY to create that DB duo or that he would be willing to take a pay cut?

gpngc 07-27-2011 09:20 AM

And the jets main comp. For Holmes has already signed 2 wrs...

A direct quote from him would be idiotic but all the insiders say he would. And according to Mike Lombardi, there's no question Mr. T could make it work under the cap.

youre not even a little intrigued to see how that would go? itd be pretty sick this year watching revis and aso together, the other teams qb will be having nightmares and that defense would have a chance to be a truly great one.

...until a year from now after aso gets paid more than revis, causing him to holdout next year (he already said he might back when he signed haha http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/feed...peated-in-2012) and they have no money to resign him with. and he'd be holding out while others took pay cuts/restructured deals to get a great player like aso, would be pretty damn selfish.

Why couldn't every team do the same, then?

Him and Revis made a bunch of comments after the Pro Bowl two years back about wanting to play with each other, and how they had "talked to Rex." Which made us look bad, because that would have been tampering.
