I thought they'd push harder for Pos, I guess they're happier to go for Tulloch. Wise move, I'm surprised James Anderson and Thomas Davis aren't getting any profiled nibbles.

Yup.

And it's very possible that Edwards would be more affordable than Holmes.

I'm sure Mr. T is figuring out every possible scenario but an offense that features Sanchez, Edwards, Cotch, Keller (maybe even Brad Smith), and that running game isn't one to sneeze at - especially if they have that historic CB duo on D.

Yeah I forgot about Keller.

If they do swing for the fences with Asomugha they may not be able to bring back any of their WRs or Cromartie or Shaun Ellis for that matter. An offense with Jerricho Cotchery as it's #1 WR frankly doesnt scare me, not with Mark Sanchez throwing the ball with all due respect to both players.

And on another note there have been reports that the Patriots are very interested in Brad Smith.

@RichCimini Rich Cimini
The #Jets are still negotiating with Santonio Holmes, per source. Like I said earlier today, this is looking gd for Jets. #nyj

Would like to see Holmes back....just worried about the contract he might get.

Per the very busy Jason La Canfora (NFL.com), the Bills are now in a bidding war with the New York Jets for the services of cornerback Drayton Florence.

The Jets want all the CBs.

You have Tate for kick returns...doesn't make much sense. Hate to lose Brad Smith but if he is going to get paid the big bucks than its gotta be done.

Wow , we're 60 mill under the cap. The 'Boys were 20 mill over the cap this morning, and we can't ******* outbid them? This front office always lets me down!

Chargers, Jets chasing Antwan Barnes
Posted by Mike Florio on July 26, 2011, 11:05 PM EDT
Veteran linebacker Antwan Barnes, an unrestricted free agent, spent 2010 with the Chargers. If the Chargers have their way, he’ll spend 2011 there, too.

But the Jets have other ideas. Per a league source, both teams are pursuing Barnes.

Barnes, a five-year veteran, spent three seasons in Baltimore and one in Philly before joining the Chargers last year.

HeavyLeggedWaistBender 07-26-2011 11:35 PM

Bears linked to no one but a 31 year old DE to pair opposite Julius ******* Peppers. Isreal Idonije had 8 sacks across from Peppers after having 8 over his first 7 years in the league... At least everyone can hate on Jay for another year :/

Pissing away talent.

$-wise, they absolutely can afford Nnamdi + Edwards (maybe Holmes), assuming Sanchez re-structures, David Harris signs a long-term deal, they cut Bryan Thomas, and Nnamdi takes a little less. All four of those things are supposedly more than likely if Nnamdi agrees. Needless to say, Cro will be expendable.

Although their interest in Florence makes me suspect they've decided Nnamdi would be too much work and soured on the idea. I'm not sure Florence is even that much of a downgrade from Cro. True story.

Barry Cofield signed with the Skins.

They're also battling with Dallas for Cullen Jenkins.

They're linked to Durant.

Schefter says Barry Cofield headed to Washington? To play what, 3-4 NT? Really?

It could be a sign that the coaching staff aren't happy with Tate's progression as an actual WR. They already have Edelman, McCourty, Price etc who can all return kicks. I doubt Tate would stick around if that's all he's going to do. Smith fits what the Pats love in a WR/KR type with his versatility. I wouldn't hate the move but I think long term Tate has better potential as a WR.

He actually may convert to 34 End really well.

They're starting to get a bit of a backlog a 5 tech at the minute, especially if they're seriously going to make a run at Cullen Jenkins. They brought in Carriker last year and drafted Jarvis Jenkins in the second round as well. I think if they want Cofield to play 5 tech it's a sign they wont go after Jenkins and may use their money on another big time FA(fingers crossed it's Santonio Holmes)

Quite possibily...could be a sign that Dallas may have won Jenkins' services. We'll have to see.

Oh yeah. In my dizzying frustration I forgot about the no name Linebacker. Thanks bro!

God if the Skins weren't just dumb as crap and had a 43 front 7 of Cofield, Haynesworth, Carter, Kerrigan, Orakpo, Fletcher, and McIntosh it would be great, instead we are left with the Haynesworth situation and Carter and McIntosh gone because they don't fit the defense. I love how we turned two of our best defenders in Rocky McIntosh and Andre Carter coming off an 11 sack season into useless players.

Thecollegedropout 07-26-2011 11:46 PM

granthpaulsen Grant Paulsen
Sources: Figuers on #Redskins agreement with former #Giants DL Barry Cofield: 6 years at $6 million per year. $12.5 million guaranteed.

gpngc 07-26-2011 11:47 PM

I haven't heard James Jones' name much... although no receiver has signed yet so the market hasn't really been set (they are also the biggest assholes to sign). Besides Santana Moss, who clearly wanted no part of free agency and the Skins agreed quickly with what he thought he deserved.

gpngc 07-26-2011 11:51 PM

Definitely an under-the-radar, yet important signing. Texans re-signed 6th man Rashad Butler.

Andre Carter was an awesome 4-3 DE. Wouldn't mind bring him in as a rotational guy.

I liked Butler coming out, he's had an interesting career trajectory, picked up by Carolina thought to have amazing upside, couldn't put weight on, like at all, then was cut, went to houston found to have a medical condition, got it fixed, become a really solid back up / rotational player.

Carter could be a great pick up for the Bucs with the two young guys you drafted learning from him
