I think the Bears would GLADLY match Michael's deal if you want it Matt. Just ask them. Hell, maybe they can even throw in another million or two.

mqtirishfan 03-22-2012 01:35 PM

Awesome. Now let's just see Goodell bring the hammer down on Brandon Marshall and the off-season will be perfect for those who like watching the Bears fail.

Bengals78 03-22-2012 01:35 PM

Or you just trade him to a team that needs a RB
Like Cincinnati :)

I would gladly give you #21 for him.

The Packers have "definite interest" in the New York Giants' defensive end [Dave Tollefson], a league source said. No visit is scheduled yet, as Tollefson is set to visit the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday and Friday.

At 6-foot-4, 266 pounds, Tollefson most likely projects as a 3-4 outside linebacker in Green Bay's scheme. His growth has been gradual. Drafted by the Packers in the seventh round in 2006 out of Northwest Missouri State, he was let go and latched on with the Giants.

Get it done, Ted! I can't stomach another season of Erik Walden and Frank Zombo tripping over themselves on the opposite side of Clay. Besides, SuperPacker's generation is too young to remember the last time Green Bay signed a Free Agent!

And in case any Raiders fans follow that link and are curious about their newest player: Pat Lee sucks. He may have literally been the worst player on the Packers squad.

I would take that because I don't value RBs all that highly. I doubt your team would actually pay him what he wants and I doubt mine would actually give him up though...

Gtdamn it....who the hell is gonna back up DMC when he gets hurt like a ***** again???

iowatreat54 03-22-2012 01:41 PM

Hey Matt, I love you and really, really want you to be a Bear forever, but quit acting like a whiny *****.

You are the one that is trying to get more money out of the team and are a legitimate threat to hold out if you don't get your way. Are the Bears cheap and probably undervaluing you? Yes. But that doesn't mean you can't meet them in the middle. So what are they supposed to do, risk going into the season with no starting RB? So because they are protecting the organization from disaster, they are now not being loyal. Guess what? The money they just dished out to Bush isn't starter money. It's not like they are signing him and saying, "Here, go compete with Forte to be our starter." They signed him because he can fill in at starter if necessary.

GTFO with playing the victim card when the truth is you are probably being just as irrational in how much you are asking as the Bears are in how much they're offering. If it really bothers you that much, **** or get off the pot.

EDIT: Also, shut up Greg Olsen, you're view on anything except being worthless is irrelevant.

I forgot that the $4.6M 2-year deal Barber got and the $12.5M 4-year deal for Chester Taylor were HUGE. $2.5M-3M for a quality back up is big money now...

Most years I wouldnt dream it but with 2 firsts and such a huge need for a RB, I would.

Most NFL players aren't that bright. This has become more painfully obvious to me over time.

Considering they've been making more money than Forte every year hes been with the team I can understand why hes upset considering hes like... quadrupling their production.

Facts of life in the NFL. Any deal the Bears offered to him would have been far more than what the other guys on that list got.

I still hate the Panthers for giving DeAngelo Williams that stupid deal. The agents of the free agent RBs like Forte and Rice probably look at that as the bare minimum floor that they'd accept because those guys are worlds better than Williams.

He was offered a fair deal like the one Jamaal Charles got. Even better, in fact. It was a little more total money, 1.5x more guaranteed money, and one less year. He wants one like DeAngelo Williams got. He can **** and sign. Then he'll make a lot more than Bush.

Bengals78 03-22-2012 01:50 PM

We have the money!!!!

Go talk to Jrdrylie, he has the Bears in a forum mock, get him on board and we can work something out

Forte is also on his rookie contract. It's not like the Bears saw how awesome he is, and decided he's only worth $500K. The man is going to get paid, that's a given. He's getting paid $7.7M this year just by default, and will likely get at least that, probably a little more plus long term when the negotiations shake out.

So any way you look at it, Forte will likely be making 2-3 times as much as his backup and over a longer period of time. Yea, that would piss me off too.

iowatreat54 03-22-2012 01:54 PM

And I'm not upset with Forte for being unhappy with deals being offered to him by the Bears or wanting more money. That's part of the game and I'm all for it.

I think he has no idea wtf he's talking about when he complains about his team signing a backup at his position for the same money they've spent on backups in the past. Why all of a sudden now does he get pissed that they signed a backup to that money? Oh, that's right, because he wants that extra $2M/year for his contract. Now all of a sudden it's disrespecting him to do exactly what they've done the last 2 years when he hasn't had a problem with it.

I did not know this. I've been pretty confused by the Bears fans apparent contempt for Forte, but he's not better than Charles. If anything, a healthy Jamaal Charles is worth 1.5x as much guaranteed money. Yeah, Forte should take that deal and be happy with it.

And that Williams contract was stupid. How batshit stupid do you have to be to give that type of deal to a 28 year old RB?

The amount of guaranteed money will probably dictate whether or not he'll make the team.

I'm sure the fact that his next contract will more than likely be the only big contract he ever signs isn't a factor in it either. He and his agent have to also recognize that the longer he waits (and this being 5 years now at this point) the less valuable he is to anyone. He probably feels like the fact that hes still making rookie contract peanuts basically ruined, or is ruining his chances at ever getting more than one big contract while hes an NFL player.

Its smart by the Bears obviously, but it sucks several dozen dicks for Forte.

Right, and I understand Forte being pissed at the overall situation and actually agree somewhat with his position. But to get all uppity because the Bears signed a quality backup for the same money they have done for the last 2 years, especially considering Forte might hold out, is just being childish.

Be pissed that the Bears haven't gotten your contract done yet. Don't be pissed at them for doing one of the only smart things they've done since drafting you.

Idk bout that. I like Forte better than Charles tbh.

Forte needs to demand a trade the Bears are ******* the situation up.

He wouldn't be good at all in a 3-4. I don't see the fit there.

By signing a very good backup? As explained, Forte has already been made a far better offer than that and would absolutely remain the starter.
