Faction 2: "Brodie Croyle is the QB of the future! He flashed franchise stuff before he got hurt!"

Faction 3: "I hope we trade for Matt Cassell!"

Faction 4: "If any of you are right, shoot me in the face!"

Ah, Faction 4...they never listen to reason, do they?

I hated Brodie, I was ok with Thigpen, I didn't really like the trade for Cassel. I guess I was part of faction 4.

Colts have traded FB Chris Gronkowski (brother of the Pat's Gronk) to the Broncos for cornerback Cassius Vaughn.

John Clayton had something to say about the Drew Brees contract negotiation:

Quote:

The Saints are believed to have offered Drew Brees around $19 million a year. They are about $2 million apart.
That makes it look like Drew Brees has been misleading the public with all of the complaining he's been doing about his deal not being a "priority." Peyton Manning's deal with the Colts averaged $19.2 million per season, and Tom Brady's deal with the Patriots averages $15.7 million per. Take the money, Drew.

It's a contract negotiation. These things happen. They'll meet in the middle the day before training camp and all of this will be forgotten.

Drew wouldn't because he's such an asshole. I can't ******* stand that annoying scar faced little whiny **********. I hope he gets struck by lightning whilst being raped by horses and forced to listen to Justin Bieber's music. ******* ****.

Ness 05-28-2012 02:50 PM

We don't even know the complete story behind the contract negotiations.

Yeah. Why show up when you can always extort more money from your team as you wait for training camp (and skip boring OTAs and whatnot).

Dude had a real jaw-dropping year there. He came out of nowhere as an undrafted guy no one had any interest in who was the backup for his Canadian team. He put up 5k yards passing/500 rushing, with 44 total TDs...then the starter came back from injury and the coach didn't start Casey in the playoffs the same season. LAWL.

A one-year wonder in Canada, but what a year it was...So weird.

Is it sad that I have his jersey?

Ah, yeah. Just looked it up. Hurt his shoulder in the fourth quarter of the previous game. I'm a dummy.

For perspective, Peyton Manning just signed with Denver for five years at $19.2 million per year, Tom Brady averages $18 million with the Pats and Michael Vick averages $16 million with the Eagles.
$15 million a year is what Eli Manning got years ago. Knew Brady got more then that. Brady signed the deal when he had one year left on his contract, he would have gotten more if he wanted a year until his contract expired.

I see no downside to Brees waiting for a bigger offer. It's not like the Saints will reduce the offer. Holding out for the season is a different matter, during the off-season he has no reason to settle yet.

49erNation85 05-29-2012 10:52 PM

freaking Breese is a wuss. He wants out and on a new team.

Justin Forsett and Alan Ball to Houston.

I was beginning to think Forsett wasnt going to sign anywhere. I really liked having Forsett on the roster, but I didn't like when he actually got on the field last year.

Via Rotoworld:

Quote:

9/9/2010: Signed a five-year, $78.5 million contract. The deal contains $48.5 million guaranteed, including a $16 million signing bonus and a $4 million second-year roster bonus. 2012: $950,000 (+ $10.8 million "signing" bonus), 2013-2014: $9.75 million (+ $5 million roster bonuses), 2015: Free Agent
$78.5 / 5 = $15.7

XxXdragonXxX 07-14-2012 03:53 AM

Mike Williams released by the Seahawks.

Looks like he reverted back to fat Mike and showed up 40lbs ovetweight. Too bad he showed so much promise in 2010, but he was terrible last year.

jrdrylie 07-14-2012 03:59 PM

There are some reports saying the Bears and Forte are close to a deal.
