2012 - Return Men

Haven't seen a thread for these guys this year, so I'm throwing it out there.

Who are this year's Randall Cobb/Jerrel Jernigan types?

A guy I came across recently, but haven't heard anything about and can't find much video of is T.Y. Hilton of Florida International.

Quick profile:

Desean Jackson comes to mind. 5'10" 185. Isn't reported to have blazing speed, but generally thought to be somewhere in the 4.40-4.50 range.

Receiving -

2011: 64 950 14.8 83 7
2010: 59 848 14.4 67 5
2009: 57 632 11.1 43 5
2008: 41 1013 24.7 84 7

Returning -

2011: 20 punt returns 186yds 1TD long of 97. 16 kick returns 512yds 0TD long of 77.
2010: 28 punt returns 126yds 0TD long of 27. 29 kick returns 833yds 2TD long of 95.
2009: 6 punt returns 36yds 0TD long of 31. 22 kick returns 633yds 1TD long of 96.
2008: 22 punt returns 266yds 1TD long of 74. 36 kick returns 841yds 1TD long of 90.

Also has 475 rushing yards and 6 TDs over the course of his career. I've seen some video of him making some pretty tough catches, and I like the versatility and consistent return production over the course of his career; a guy who's scoring return TDs every year has obviously got something going for himself and can't just be the product of, say, a good special teams unit. Undersized, but at this point I like him better than Titus Young last year.

Im a big fan of him. He is one of my top sleeper picks

I like Hilton quite a bit, but I think he's more of a role player at the NFL level than anything else. I'm excited to see him at the Senior Bowl this year, could be a fast rising for sure. Not quite the prospect Titus Young was, but quite a bit better than Jerrel Jernigan who was picked in the third. He has a real good shot to be picked in that range with a nice week in Mobile and a good 40 time. The return value helps him a good bit too, although I don't think he's an elite guy in that regard.

Devon Wylie, Fresno State.

...is a stud. Very underrated prospect right now.

Joe Adams needs a mention too. He might be the most electrifying player in college football and is one of the most elusive athletes I've ever seen in college. He was hands down the best returner in CFB and has been a very effective WR as well. He will be a dangerous slot/return man wherever he lands.

I had him in mind, too. Not sure how much he'd offer on offense, but he's sure got some moves in the open field. Could probably at least be effective on screens and such. There's actually a number of plays on the above video of him covering kicks, which sure won't hurt when teams are evaluating him. Interesting player.

This is who i came to mention. I WANT HIM IN BOLTS. Dude is flat out electric and the Bolts need that kind of spark that they have missed with Sproles gone. He's be a great replacement in the return game, and an explosive playmaker on offense, and that true speed guy we've been lacking for a LONG time.

This is a guy i've been REALLY interested in for the past year. He's a guy who looks like a sproles clone with the body type and shiftiness and toughness. He's got a big injury history, but he's an incredibly tough guy to bring down in the open field and has the speed to run away from other people.

Taveon Rogers, New Mexico State
Tavon Austin, West Virginia
Tavoy Moore, Idaho State

What coincidence that these guys have similar names? LOL.

This just got posted yesterday. He looks pretty natural catching the football and follows his blocks really well. Has good patience.

0:30 - check out the elusiveness.

1:22 - follows blocks perfectly, shows nice acceleration and vision.

1:47 - another screen, again executes it perfectly and gets about 20 yards more than it looks like is there.

5:18 - impressive hands/ball skills

6:42 - drops a pass he probably should catch.

9:00 - wide-open TD the result of terrible coverage by the DB.

10:04 - makes a fairly touch catch with a defender all over him. Not for big yards, but good to see smaller receivers make those contested catches.

Not terribly impressive in the two games here, but there were quite a few errant throws in there, too. What I'm mostly paying attention to is the way he runs with the ball, and you can definitely see some flashes in there. Probably looks like a 4th-rounder to me at this point.

There are a lot of rumors swirling around Greg Reid may go pro early, based on what's here so far he'd be one of, if not the top RS in the draft.

I love Wylie, and you're actually the one who got me to watching Adams. He's going to be one hell of a weapon in the NFL.
