That's a tough blow for him. Missouri has had a tough time defending the pass this year. He well could have put up some big numbers and helped himself quite a bit.

Doesn't he know his likeness can only be used so the NCAA can reap the sole rewards of his celebrity by selling jerseys with his number and video games with his likeness, while he takes 15 credit hours a semester and practices 20 hours of football per week all for free?

Ridiculous what the NCAA does to these kids. NCAA can exploit him but he can't exploit himself.

Damn, he was actually on my short list of guys I wanted to watch this bowl season.

Stupid ruling. I understand it, but it's stupid. It's an event happening after his college career is over and it's not like he took money or had dealings with an agent. Sucks to see his career end like that, I was looking forward to watching him play again. Still one of my favorite players in the draft.

I have a question. Let's say that he were starting his own promotions company, and lets call it Dwight Jones Promotions. Would he then be allowed to use his likeness in this same exact way, in a business venture that he personally owned? Would the NCAA really claim that he couldn't start a wholly-owned for-profit business?

I'm guessing it would depend on if he was wearing his UNC uniform to advertise it.
