Jags 2012 Draft

Top needs -

1. Big wide receiver. (Alshon Jeffery, Michael Floyd, Rueben Randle, Tommy Streeter, Jeff Fuller, Marvin McNutt)
2. Cornerback (Dre Kirkpatrick)
3. Interior offensive lineman (David DeCastro, Barrett Jones)
4. Tight end, Hback. (Coby Fleener, Michael Egnew, Ladarius Webb)

Best way to fill them -

Trade back from top 5 into top 15 with team looking for a quarterback. Add a second and third round pick, giving five picks within the top 75 players.

Thoughts?

not a fan of Alshon at all but do like Floyd. He's physical and can out muscle most CB's which is needed to help Gabbert.

The OL needs to be addressed but I'd like that to be addresses via free agency. Not sure they can handle another you guy learning o the job.

This offseason should be offense, offense, offense

Like the idea of trading back with a QB needy team. Don't think a big Wr is the answer per se. We need a featured #1 guy. I dont care who but whomever it is, take him. Remember though, the two years that GM Gene has had an offseasonn before the draft, he has signed guys at positions of need. Jags are way below the salary cap and need to get to 99% of the cap by 2013. If the jag sign 1 or 2 FA WRs, the draft could change dramatically. FAs off the top of my head, vincent jackson, stevie johnson, marques colston, robert meachem, bowe, desean jackson. sign and 2 of those and we could be good at WR. Thomas and DIllard are natural slot guys.

The difficulty is that the Rams will surely pick ahead and they will select the guy we need, Justin Blackmon. Floyd surely has too much baggage for Gene.

Although other mock drafts at this point have the Jags taking Quinton Coples, this must be the year that the team addresses the pitiful WR corps by getting a proven commodity in FA and a stud like Blackmon in the draft.

I truly believe that we could see the Jags attempt to sign TWO #1's in the offseason. I mean, it couldn't hurt. The new CBA caused all of those 4 year restricted free agents to become UFA's and the FA list for this off season is long. Again, Meachem, D. Jackson, V. Jackson, Bowe, Stevie Johnson, Colston, etc. All are FA's this year.

Fixed it for ya...I still think DE is our second biggest need

Watching Blackmon yesterday made me realize how important a guy like that would be in our Offense. He a big YAC type WR and that may be needed for Gabbert's type off skills

1. WR- at least one, preferably a big first down maker, the second a field stretcher
2. DE- pure rush DE sack maker

3. RT/OG- big nasty that can play RT or potentially move to guard
4, DT- rotation guy
5. TE2- Miller is a big question mark
6. RB3- Deji is not the answer
