wayyyyy too early for this as we have to see the guys play to even come close to developing needs.

Those are in my opinion potential needs.

I'll definitely bump FS to a priority need. Would completely change our defense if we had a playmaker back there.

I still don't understand the hate for Decoud... he is a playmaker. oy.

Not to sound like a dick, but who on the team don't you like Scar? You seem to support every player, move, and decision by the organization. DeCoud had one good year.

^^. Decoud by no means at all is a playmaker. Hes serviceable. Not a top tier S but there are for sure worse. That about sums him up.

I don't like the players who actually make the team worse. I don't like Peria Jerry. I don't like Garrett Reynolds. The players who actually have earned their starting spots, I like. Thomas Decoud isn't a weakness on this team. People just think he is because Brian Van Gorder is the worst coordinator in the NFL.

Seems to me that most fans think most DBs suck. Everyone wants to their teams CBs to be Darelle Revis and thier safetys to be Troy Palumalu. With the exception of a few stars at safety and CB, most DBs seemed to be viewed by fans as bad players. It's a pass friendly league and we tend not to notice DBs unless they are nearby a pass catcher catching a pass. Nobody watches a football game and says "wow, did you see that DB cover that WR!!".

Not true. I think DeCoud is average at best though. Dunta Robinson gets crapped on because his huge contract but he's not quite as bad as everyone makes him out to be. I just try to be a little more realistic with it. I'm actually called a homer for some of my views and I think Scar goes even more overboard than I do.

I'm not saying DeCoud is a great player, but he seems like good return on the investment the Falcons have made in him. I don't think any of the Falcons DBs have had the benefit of a great pass rush to help them in recent years.

Decoud is a good safety. He's a top 10 FS in the NFL. however, he was mis-used by BVG in 2011 after good years in 2009 and 2010.

Should be a very strong pass rushing class.

Were gonna need one for sure. Roddy also isnt getting younger but I still think our #1 is gonna be a LT

idk about that. Lamar Holmes could end up as the starting LT in 2012 and surprise.

Yeah, I don't think there's a chance in hell that LT is a first round pick.

Baker/Svitek **** the bed... Holmes in 2013
Baker/Svitek do a good enough job... retained
Holmes starts and does well... no longer a need
Holmes starts and does poorly... will get another opportunity

pretty much. And even if Holmes starts and does poorly, he will at least be an upgrade over Svitek in run blocking and Baker in pass blocking. Baker was the worst pass blocker in the NFL... both by eye test, PFF and Football outsider metrics... and by my own personal rating of snaps per combined pressure... which is nearing a 8 or so snaps per pressure... and unlike golf, the lower score is not better on that metric... for reference, Clabo was around a 30 snaps per pressure rate and near the top of that stat for RT's.

I still think there is chance LT could be a first rounder next year. Sam Baker just can't play the position, no matter how hard he tries. Svitek is nothing special and he's about 30 years old. I'm reading a lot of positives on Lamar Holmes, but realistically what are the chances he starts and does well? I can see him ending up playing Svitek's position of a 3rd tackle and then draft an top tier guy.

I really hope Lamar Holmes impresses and we won't have to do that, all I'm saying is that it's possible.

But the thing is, if Baker/Svitek **** the bed (likely), we'll just hear how Holmes is our guy for 2013.


And yeah, we really just need to hope for the best on Holmes.

DeCoud is a top ten FS in the NFL?

Bleacher report just ranked the starting free safeties. I think that's about where DeCoud should be.
