Only 8 wins, former SB winners can really stink it up the next yr.

They were only a lucky bounce into a 9er punt returner's leg away from making the SB last yr.

This team barely won the NFC East last year and I think the Eagles and Cowboys have improved much more than the Giants have.

Tough schedule, erratic regular season team. 9-10 wins most likely, wouldn't be surprised by any outcome though.

eaglesalltheway 05-04-2012 12:34 PM

Like the Cowboys, I have them at 9 or 10 wins, but voting 10. The division is going to be a three horse race, I'm fairly sure, and it will definitely come down to the final weeks, as usual. But then again, its ******* May, and a lot can, and will, happen before the season even starts.

It all comes down to our OL and how long it takes it to not suck on offense. And how long Perry Fewell is able to keep his head out of his ass/takes-him-to-get-it-out, defensively.

I disagree! We have talent, but we were badly hurt last year. We had a coordinator who adjusted poorly because of it. Now we got people back. Our coordinator needs to finally stepped it up in the regular season. I am still on the fence with Perry F.

We also had the 3rd hardest schedule, with the 1st hardest second half of the year. And still we made! LOL.

IF anything we get the benefit of the doubt while the others teams have to prove themselves.

I can see the G-men squeezing out 11 wins. I really think some people are underselling them but really its up to the coaching staff and if they use their players properly.

I can see why. Our coordinators, specifically DC, have messed up in the regular season.

Tim Lewis, Spags ( my favorite), Sheridan and Fewell.. So I understand that part. We always get one of the top hardest schedules, and this year we are # 1.

Injuries hurt us as well, and last year we got owned big time. But even with all that, we still won the division AND won a super bowl. So if any team should be respected it's us. 2 super bowls in 5 seasons earned us that. That's how I feel about it.

I think it will come down to injuries and the DC. If we stay healthy or healthier, people can see what we can do with our talent. And our stupid coordinator needs to actually live up to the billing in the regular season.

Our factors are pretty straight foward:

1. Health. We were destroyed by injuries last year so if we can stay healthy this year that alone significantly improves our roster.

2. OL. Our OL sucks, it sucked last year, it could potentially suck even more this year. As long as it is good enough for Eli to do his thing, we'll be ok. But it has to be passable. It can't be atrocious. Hopefully for us, they gel this offseason and that leads to improvement.

3. Perry Fewell. I'm sorry, but he's a turd. Us Giants fans have been begging for man coverage all season, instead he does complicated zone reads where your zone changes depending on formation, motions, and route combinations. Once he dumbed it down and played a lot more man coverage and basic zone coverages, our defense was top of the line. If he can just continue with a simplified approach and let our athletes on defense do what they do, we'll be fine. If he tries to outcoach himself like he did most of last year (3 man rush Cover 2 drove me nuts), then we're screwed.

Those 3 factors will pretty much determine our season. If they all add up, we can beat anybody in the league. If they don't, we can go 7-9. It all depends on how things go, you can't predict it. You can only hope for the best.

Going with the assumption, that we are healthy, and Perry Fewell gets his head out of his butt for a whole regular season. If that happens, we are due for regular season success. We have the talent, especially on defense, so now everything clicks.

13-3 with a + of 1 game or a worse (-) 3 games making it, best situation 14-2, worse situation 10-6.

FreshBoy! 09-07-2012 09:00 PM

7-9......Think they're in for a huge drop. Those last 6 games of the season are BRUTAL.

OL is probably the worst in the division, and the secondary just isn't that good when healthy, much less with the injuries. They can't run the ball to save their lives...just not really high on them at all.

Rosebud 09-08-2012 12:14 PM

The secondary's better than it was last year and not being able to run the ball didn't seem to stop us then either. *shrug*

The OL is worse...and it's debatable that the secondary is better.

You're also forgetting the Giants were an average team, that just happened to beat an even more average(and self destructive) team in the 'Boys to get to the playoffs.

At that point they got healthy, and were the best team in the league obviously....

Just a prediction....I could very well be wrong.
