Eazy Picks Week 1 Picks
Week 1 Picks
Cowboys at Giants: NYG
The Giants will be celebrating their Super Bowl win at home to kick off the season against their most-hated rival. There will be a lot of energy in the building and the Giants should come out confident. They have dominated the Cowboys recently and have reason to be confident. Tony Romo will struggle to get into rhythm against the Giants' menacing pass-rush and he will be without his go-to guy when he is under duress, TE Jason Witten. The Cowboys have gotten younger in their secondary and Eli Manning will take the young guys to the test right away.
ATS Pick: Giants -3.5
Colts at Bears: CHI
Playing in the Windy City against Urlacher and Peppers is a hell of a way for Andrew Luck to start his career. Still, he will probably handle the pressure, play smart and make enough plays to keep his team in the game. The Colts defense could have a hard time against the Bears' power running game and matching up against WR Brandon Marshall, but Coach Pagano won't tolerate the unit just lying down.
ATS Pick: Colts +10
Eagles at Browns: PHI
The Eagles simply have too much speed on offense for the Browns and Andy Reid understands how to spread a defense out and exploit mismatches. The Browns will be without their best DB, Joe Haden, and are going to have a hard time covering Maclin and Desean Jackson while still accounting for Vick and Shady McCoy. The Eagles will put a lot of pressure on rookie QB Brandon Weeden and without any mismatches to look for in the passing game, he will likely struggle.
ATS Pick: Eagles -9
Bills at Jets: NYJ
This should be a low scoring, defensive game. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will have a hard time getting anything going against the Jets' secondary, while the Jets will struggle to establish any kind of run game against the Bills' stout defensive front. The game will probably come down to a couple big plays that go one way or another. With Tebow and the home crowd on their side, I like the Jets to squeak this one out
ATS Pick: Jets -2.5
Redskins at Saints: NO
The Saints will be playing with a lot of emotion in their first home game after the bounty scandal. Drew Brees is too good not to light up Washington's secondary. Robert Griffin will face a lot of pressure in this game and won't be able to shoot it out with Brees. The Saints won't be afraid to take risks on defense and will eventually get Griffin to make some big mistakes that will let them blow the game open.
ATS Pick: Saints -8
Patriots at Titans: NE
This could easily be a trap game for the Pats, who could still be reeling from losing the Super Bowl. The Titans are an upstart team with QB Jake Locker starting and HB Chris Johnson ready to return to form. The Titans have defenders that match up decently with the Patriots weapons at TE and WR and might just be able to slow the machine down. Still, the Pats are too good to pick against. Brady should have plenty of time to sit in the pocket and make throws and win this game.
ATS Pick: Patriots -7
Jaguars at Vikings: JAX
Both Adrian Peterson and Maurice Jones-Drew are expected to be brought along slowly, which makes this the battle of the 2nd year QBs. Jacksonville has a more stout defense that should give Ponder some problems. Gabbert may have some success throwing to Justin Blackmon, Mercedes Lewis and Laurent Robinson against the Viking secondary
ATS Pick: Jaguars +3.5
Dolphins at Texans: HOU
This is a tough one for Miami. Reggie Bush will have a hard time getting going against the Texans' swarming front 7 and Ryan Tannehill will feel the pressure when they start passing the ball. The Texans can blitz all day if they choose and leave their DBs in single coverage. Offensively, the Texans can run the ball and control the game.
ATS Pick: Texans -11
Rams at Lions: DET
The Rams biggest weakness is their secondary, which makes Detroit a tough matchup for them. Stafford will lead a non-stop aerial assault that the Rams will have a hard time slowing down. Steven Jackson will need to have a good game running the ball to slow down Detroit's pass-rushers and keep the defense off the field some.
ATS Pick: Lions -8
Falcons at Chiefs: ATL
Matt Ryan looks like he's ready to start off the season hot. The Chiefs have a solid pass D, but they're gonna have a hard time slowing down Julio Jones and Roddy White. The Falcons D plays tough sideline to sideline and will not let the Chiefs dominate with their run game.
ATS Pick: Falcons -1
49ers at Packers: GB
This should be a hard-fought game. The 49er defense will face a tough test against the Packers, and they should be able to slow them down. The 49ers will probably stick to their run game against the Packers talented secondary and keep the game close.
ATS Pick: 49ers +5
Panthers at Bucs: CAR
Greg Schiano will kick off his NFL coaching career with the Cam Newton show coming to town. Don't expect the Bucs to slow down Cam or the Panther run game. Josh Freeman will try to get it going with his new weapons, and it will be interesting to see how much improvement the Panther D shows.
ATS Pick: Panthers -1
Steelers at Broncos: PIT
Peyton Manning will go to battle against a familiar defense, just with a new offense. It will be a grudge match for the Steelers after losing in OT in the playoffs to the Broncos with Tim Tebow. The Steelers defense is healthy and ready to go and Peyton could still be a little rusty. The Broncos secondary will have a hard time matching up with the Steelers speedy young receivers. Watching Big Ben try to make plays with Dumervil and Von Miller attacking him should be something to see.
ATS Pick: Steelers +1
Seahawks at Cardinals: ARI
The Seahawks have a secondary that can match up with the Cardinals big receivers, but it's still a tough road game for the team. The Seahawks may struggle in the heat of the desert.
ATS Pick: Cardinals -1
Bengals at Ravens: BAL
The Bengals are heading into the regular season a little beat up with injuries, the Ravens are entering with a big chip on their shoulder after a heartbreaking AFC championship. Haloti Ngata and the Ravens DL will give the Bengals battered interior line problems and AJ Green will have a hard time getting going against the Raven secondary. Joe Flacco is playing great and will guide his team to an opening day win.
ATS Pick: Ravens -6
Chargers at Raiders: OAK
The Raiders will look to exact revenge after the Chargers week 17 win cost the Raiders a playoff spot. The Raiders pass rush is looking good and the Chargers OL has been shaky, which could be bad for Phillip Rivers. Darren McFadden is healthy and the Raiders will look to ride their star running back to a win.
ATS Pick: Raiders +1
