Grizz's First 2013 Mock

So I was bored at work yesterday and took a pass at a first mock, didn't do any comments or anything, looking for some feedback:

1. Kansas City Chiefs - Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
2. Carolina Panthers - Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State
3. Jacksonville Jaguars - Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
4. Cleveland Browns - Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB, Georgia
5. Oakland Raiders - Matt Barkley, QB, USC
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU
7. Detroit Lions - Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
8. New Orleans Saints - Star Loutulei, DT, Utah
9. Buffalo Bills - Keenan Allen, WR, California
10. St. Louis Rams - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
11. Tennessee Titans - Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU
12. Indianapolis Colts - Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
13. St. Louis Rams (from Washington) - C.J. Mosley, OLB, Alabama
14. New York Jets - Damontre Moore, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
15. Cincinnati Bengals - Eric Reid, FS, LSU
16. Dallas Cowboys - Barrett Jones, OG, Alabama
17. San Diego Chargers - Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
18. Seattle Seahawks - Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee
19. Arizona Cardinals - Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
20. Minnesota Vikings - John Jenkins, DT, Georgia
21. Miami Dolphins - Robert Woods, WR, USC
22. Green Bay Packers - Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
23. Philadelphia Eagles - T.J. McDonald, FS, USC
24. Pittsburgh Steelers - Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame
25. Denver Broncos - Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina
26. New York Giants - Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
27. San Francisco 49ers - Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas
28. New England Patriots - Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor
29. Chicago Bears - Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
30. Baltimore Ravens - Dion Jordan, DE/OLB, Oregon

32. Houston Texans - Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M

Edited based on feedback thus far, keep it coming

I love Manti, but we have a backlog of ILBs that are playing pretty well. It's the strongest position on our team. I'd go Chance Warmack for the Colts, the interior of the OL is the weakest spot.

Mike Iupati and Alex Boone have been playing at an exceptional level. Daniel Kilgore was drafted in 2011 and Joe Looney was drafted in 2012.

G seems highly unlikely to be a target high in the draft.

I absolutely despise Terrance Williams as a prospect. Give us Cordarrelle Patterson and I'll love you for it!

:) Love the pick and his versatility. I'm still hoping Reid would fall one more spot in that situation or that Vaccaro/McDonald become worthy of being taken in that spot given our lack of talent at safety.

One qualifier though, if our offensive line continues to improve and play at this level (4th best sack ratio in the league: 3.8%) I can imagine we'll push offensive line down the board a bit.

I'll be honest, I had no idea who to give you guys as I think QB is the main thing holding the team back but I don't see them taking one. Whoever did the 9ers in the forum mock went OG so I decided to replicate that. What positions/players would you recommend?

BuckeyeDan17 10-25-2012 10:58 AM

I can dig Jarvis Jones there for the browns. I have a hard time envisioning hankins going top 5.

vidae 10-25-2012 11:13 AM

Perfect KC pick but you knew that already Grizz!

redbills 10-25-2012 11:52 AM

Bills pick a RT at 9? Yea we have way way way bigger needs (QB, WR, 2 LB, CB, SS, DE). Pears/Hairston is fine.

CashmoneyDrew 10-25-2012 11:57 AM

You have Bjoern Werner going exactly-ish 8 spots too high.

Yea, wanted to go LB but didn't like the value. Totally forgot you guys took Cordy Glenn last year. Gonna swap Keenan Allen with Joeckel. Win-win?

T-RICH49 10-25-2012 01:30 PM

good KC pick

Matthew Jones 10-25-2012 01:37 PM

A wide receiver makes sense, but I hope New England stays away from Terrance Williams. He'll be 24 as a rookie and has played in a simple offense with clean releases.

prock 10-25-2012 01:50 PM

Diggin Jenkins for the Vikings.

D-Unit 10-25-2012 02:53 PM

Barrett Jones makes sense if the Cowboys think he can play RT off the bat.

They have 13 picks, I believe, so it's very likely Baalke will move picks to get a guy he's in love with. BPA all day long but the positions most in need of depth and/or youth are...

OLB
DE/NT
S
CB
WR

TE becomes a need if Delanie Walker isn't resigned. If Goldson isn't resigned, S is #1 priority.

Taber21 10-25-2012 06:11 PM

DT is certainly a need for the Vikings, so if they went there I wouldn't be surprised. That said, MLB is also a need, and our front office has shown a long standing love of Notre Dame players. With Manti there at 20, I would be somewhat surprised if we passed on him, but certainly not out of the question.

Jenkins would be fine, but I'd prefer Robert Woods, Manti Te'o, Xavier Rhodes, or Jonathan Banks over him for sure and possibly TJ McDonald or Jonathan Cooper.

princefielder28 10-25-2012 07:14 PM

The Packers have Tramon Williams, Casey Hayward, Davon House and Sam Shields as young corners so there's no need for an early investment at the position.

Allen would make more sense than RT so I'd be fine with dat.

Jordan is a great pick for the Ravens. He's exactly what the defense needs to add.

CJSchneider 10-26-2012 03:09 PM

I have been preaching that the Saints need to pick a DE; Star may be the exception to that.

Exactly what I was thinking. Winfield is old and Cook can't seem to stay healthy, so Banks would be awesome to have in our secondary. Te'o would fill Spielman's Notre Dame requirement and help out our run D.

49erNation85 10-27-2012 09:58 PM

Yea QB for 49ers is definitely not a need this year, maybe next year .

Smooth Criminal 10-28-2012 07:35 AM

Nothing could make me happier than the Steelers getting Teo in the first round. He's the exact kind of player we need in the middle of the defense to add some new blood and young talent.
