The Best That Never Was
Before our Time, but 30-Year Anniversary of Marcus Dupree's Arrival
Here's a guy I think a lot of people haven't even heard of, because injuries derailed his path to Canton, like Bo Jackson and sadly now another Marcus, Lattimore. A really good guy too, like Lattimore. God could not have created a better specimen for an NFL RB than Dupree or Bo Jackson. Bo still has the hype because he produced some NFL Greatness as his career-ending injury didn't happen before he hit the NFL like Dupree's did. But this guy was special. Very similar to Adrian Peterson.... a little faster, not quite as strong -maybe-, but built big and strong like AP. Not sure if you all caught last year's ESPN 30 for 30 Episode on Dupree. ![]() *30for30 clip, some say this was the BEST episode of 30for30> [youtube=miTnKS5ohRI[/youtube] *Here's a flashback> http://m.newson6.com/Video.aspx?clipId=7740410 *Some highlights> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPgwh...eature=related |
What about Herschel specimen wise. I'm clearly biased though.

Herschel could easily be above Dupree no argument. I just gave the edge to Dupree because of the goggles. And these are parts of the reason I get so pizzed off when DBs dive into runner's legs. No matter how God-gifted they are, cheap hits into the knees like Delmas does, like the guy did to McGahee, like the guy did to Peterson, the guy into Lattimore; those bad cheap shots change destiny and I hate it. Tackle like men, waist level or chest.... |
