Jarvis Jones Given Clean Bill of Health

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...medical-report

Could he now go #1 overall to KC. He in all likelihood will be a 12-15 sack guy in the NFL.

Babylon 03-11-2013 01:59 PM

I think you're being extremely generous with the 12-15 sack prediction. This should however help him to rehab his draft stock some. And i see no chance the Chiefs are interested with their first pick.

And play him where?

Could just "create a hole" as vidae would say.

Jones could get cleared by every independent doctor in the world, and it would still come down to what team doctors think about it.

This report is just meaningless spin, presumably put out there by Jones' agent. If you're picking high, and your team docs aren't comfortable with Jarvis Jones, then you're not taking him high. We won't know what team docs think until the draft gets here.

killxswitch 03-11-2013 02:20 PM

Is Jacksonville switching to a 3-4? If so, there you go.

BallerT1215 03-11-2013 02:32 PM

I want him...like...I want this guy on the BILLS NOW.

SuperPacker 03-11-2013 02:40 PM

I don't really think Jones is the elite talent people make him out to be. I'd be surprised if he's taken in the top 5, even in this down year at the top of the draft. I'd guess 8-10 will be where he is selected.

PoopSandwich 03-11-2013 03:07 PM

I want Milliner Jones or the best DE to convert to a 3-4 OLB for the Browns possible.

Jones and Sheard off the edge would be so damn good especially if we can land Ellerbee in free agency paired with DQ.

Running the same 4-3 LEO scheme that Seattle's running, so thanks, but no thanks to Jarvis at #2.

jones at de in a 4-3 would be a disaster. he's only about 245 lbs, especially in the afc north where running the ball is a priority, move him to sam backer and use him like von miller

just move him to sam 'backer in the base defense, he has experiece dropping into coverage and then just move him to end in the nickel defense, problem solved

raphael 03-11-2013 05:37 PM

He is a dynamic athlete and would definitely interest the Jaguars. Particularly if they can trade back a bit with someone looking for a QB or OT. But whatever caused his neck problems is a concern. Especially with a linebacker who lives off sudden head on contact.

Bleh. I'd rather grab Ansah or Jordan in the first and then get an OLB in the 3rd, personally.

descendency 03-11-2013 06:23 PM

Just to put a little perspective on this: 1 doctor (who is employed by whom?) has cleared him. Not every team uses the same doctor.

SickwithIt1010 03-11-2013 06:24 PM

He's the closest thing to an elite player in this draft IMO, and if this is true then it just punched his ticket to the top 5. Him and Joeckel/Fisher (depending on who you talk to or prefer) are the best football players along with Star.

Monomach 03-11-2013 06:48 PM

Kansas City gonna cut Hali to draft him. It's the new Chiefs Way, people.

FUNBUNCHER 03-11-2013 06:59 PM

If it means Jarvis is clear to work out with weights and have no fear on injury, I'd want to take him high in the first.

I think Jones could get up to 250# and retain his athleticism and quickness, but as descendency said, what team doctors think is the only thing that matters at this point.

It'll be real interesting to see what kind of numbers he puts up at UGA's pro day.

In fact no teams use this particular doctor.

Halsey 03-11-2013 11:36 PM

The Chiefs should trade Tamba Hali to the Falcons for a 7th rounder and draft Jones #1.

raphael 03-11-2013 11:54 PM

I bet a lot of teams wouldn't touch him. If he played a different position, perhaps, but as a linebacker who is constantly going to be involved in head on collisions, I'm skeptical than he goes very high in the draft. He would have to be twice the player of anyone else to warrant that risk.

I think Jarvis Jones can play inside in that defense.

JT Jag 03-12-2013 03:30 AM

If Jarvis Jones is legitimately healthy, and I still have my doubts, this may put him back on the board at #2 for Jacksonville. He potentially slots in for them at a couple of positions in the new defense they are implementing.

I still have my reservations about how a lot of his sacks at Georgia were coverage sacks, though.

villagewarrior 03-12-2013 07:11 AM

In my opinion Jarvis Jones is one of the most explosive players in the draft. I think he has enough athletic ability to slot at ILB in the 34 as well as OLB and as a Will in a 43. If his neck is no concern than he absolutely should be in play with the Chiefs. You can't have enough pass rushers on the field.

CollegeFan 03-13-2013 12:15 PM

Jones will go top 10 for sure.

bitonti 03-13-2013 01:20 PM

he prob doesn't go top 5 unless he does something to distinguish himself at pro day. Jac can't really take an OLB that runs 4.75 in the top 3 picks. He's not a workout warrior, rumor has it. I see him in the 7-12 range like terrell suggs many years ago.
