Did they tell him to bring his sleeping bag?

MassNole 04-11-2013 12:41 PM

I'd guess the NFL knows something most draft "experts" don't know. When was the last time an invitee slipped to Round 2?

Very rude Babylon. Heartless bastard.

No, but seriously, he can slip into the end of the 1st.

See where Watson and Hunt are going too. I'll take bets all 3 of those guys aren't going in the first round.

BallerT1215 04-11-2013 12:50 PM

I will take your bet on Watson.

OT's with his measurables get taken very quickly. Do I personally think he should go in 1st rnd? No. Will some team see him as a future LT pro bowler? Likely.

WCH 04-11-2013 01:03 PM

The NFL is making an effort to invite guys who are going to be there in round two and who more or less know they're going to be there in round two. Off the top of my head, Reuben Randle and Stephen Hill lasted into the second round last year, as did Randall Cobb and Ryan Williams the year before.

A few years ago that Wake Forest DB (Ghee?) was in attendance and didn't get drafted until like the 4th round.

I remember that. Him and Alponso Smith - two wake CB's I liked a lot that really were not that good.

mike lombardi's going to take him 6th overall. i can't get it out of my head, everyone will laugh and i will cry and destroy everything around me.

I will be there to pull you out of the abyss and tell you EJ Manuel is the chosen one.

BuckeyeDan17 04-11-2013 01:22 PM

You know, you should start a thread that kind of "sells him" if you feel like it. If you're an advocate of his, I'd be very interested to know in what you see in him.

Or in here, whatever.

I'd rather reach on guys like Chance Warmack, Tavon Austin or take Milliner.

BallerT1215 04-11-2013 01:31 PM

I'll do it here. F it.

First, I'll tell you right now that I'm disappointed in the overall outcome of his FSU career. That says something when the guy was 4-0 in bowl games and overall 25-6 record. Also led us back to our first ACC championship since 2005. Obviously, expectations were gigantic for him.

He played in Jimbo Fisher's system which was a pro offense style system. He also had the ability to audible plays at the line of scrimmage halfway through his junior year, and always had 2-3 plays available for his call. That says a lot when Jimbo is extremely controlling when it comes to his offense hence why we don't have an OC still. He has the wheels to scramble out of the pocket, and the body that can take NFL hits.

His flaws? He is very inaccurate at times with the deep ball. He missed a lot of big plays this past season by overthrowing our WR's who have speed and size. He missed so many big plays that seriously his 3300 yds passing could have been closer to 4000yds. A lot of that is due to poor footwork that he needs to be more consistent on when dropping back in the pocket. Also, the guy doesn't give up on plays and takes sacks which are drive killers.

I was just kidding about 6th overall, but I do think he is a 1st round quality QB. I don't really get where people say he is garbage, and I think that just comes from the expectations he had coming to FSU as a 5 star. He is a very intelligent guy + all the tools you can ask for in a QB plus size so I understand scouts drooling over him. If he gets a solid QB coach that pounds footwork daily, he will be a Pro Bowler in this league. He has already been exposed to extreme pressure so NFL will not be a culture shock to him, and he is a winner.

Just my 2 cents.

All you have to do is watch film this season vs. Clemson and you see what he is capable of. 300+ yds passing and 100 yds rushing while putting the whole team on his back for the W.

MassNole 04-11-2013 01:55 PM

Jimbo is an elite college QB coach, I just don't know if NFL coaches can fix the issues Fisher couldn't in the over 5 years he worked with Manuel dating back to when he committed.

Nastradamus 04-11-2013 02:18 PM

If you read off Manuel's resume and abilities without his name attached to it, he would probably go top 10. I still think he might. Him and Nassib will probably surprise people with where they go. I think Buffalo ends up having to take Nassib 8th. The Browns,Jets and maybe Jags are all threats to take Manuel IMO.

Probably for the second day. I just don't really see it with Manuel. I didn't think he was that good in college and he is stock has sharply raised after the season.

I wouldn't do that. Either trade back into the late first round to take him or just wait till the second.

Agreed.

No way is that a great pick @ 8.

What a joke.

You enjoy watching Vick turnover the ball 3x a game next year again. Just saying.

Tons of guys were invited last year who weren't selected round 1. Brock Osweiler was invited and everyone was even more surprised by that than this last year.

EJ Manuel wasn't a good college QB...why would he be a good pro? The fact that he was invited to the combine...is a joke, because it essentially means there is a chance he goes in the first.

Yeah players who suck go 4-0 in bowl games all the time.
