How Much Better Will 2014 NFL Braft Be?

It should be much much better.

Brothgar 05-10-2013 09:13 PM

Its more top heavy more Elite talent but I don't know if it will be that much better overall.

That seems likely. Barring something shocking Clowney is going to be better than any prospect in 2013 was, and there are a lot of other potentially really high level guys in the 2014 class it's just early to tell on a lot of those guys. But 2013 was also really, really deep and I think it's going to be tough for 2014 to match that - though again it's early. There were just a lot of quality players in the 2013 class.

niel89 05-10-2013 10:11 PM

2014 will have at least 1 elite guy in Clowney, but 2013 was pretty good overall. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd weren't that far apart in talent. A very flat draft in a good way.

TACKLE 05-10-2013 10:14 PM

A 'next years draft is better than this years draft' thread in early May. Shocking.

It's stunning.

There's gonna be "elite" talent in 2014 but I think it'll be tough to beat the depth from this year's draft.

thebow305 05-11-2013 11:58 AM

I think we pretty much say this every year. Stuff happens.

Always is. Right now i like the looks of the OTs, LBs and QBs if some of the underclassmen get in like Mariota and Hundley

keylime_5 05-11-2013 01:01 PM

Last year was a weird year where there weren't many guys with top 10 grades. Next year I think there will be a lot of top ten graded guys, and a lot of elite players like Clowney, Bridgewater, Lee, Watkins, etc.

tjsunstein 05-11-2013 04:35 PM

More top heavy but won't meet the depth of this year's draft. Clowney is the best of either class. I liked Geno a lot but the only QB I like more in this draft is Bridgewater, and I'm still undecided on Mariota.

Iamcanadian 05-11-2013 09:22 PM

Won't come close to the depth of this year's draft but the top 10 picks will be solid but still no QB's worth talking about just yet.

Lets take a look back, at what was deemed a top heavy draft and a depth draft(?)

Top Heavy
somewhere in between

Can't get more superstar draft than this

Oh snap it just got better, actually it was a very good draft class from top to bottom

When we used to be excited for RBs

I think people are forgetting that at this time last year, Matt Barkley and Tyler Wilson were elite prospects, Landry Jones a borderline 1st rounder, Robert Woods was considered elite as well I believe.

BamaFalcon59 05-11-2013 10:57 PM

2006 is my favorite ever.

If I remember right here a thread talking about how Barkley was a better prospect then Luck? It just goes to show how much can change over the course of a season.

Stock NFL draft answer:

If the junior class comes out this draft could be pretty amazing.

Like clockwork that one...everyone hates seniors lol.

No QBs worth talking about? Have you been living under a rock?

P-L 05-12-2013 08:49 AM

The first 20-ish picks of 2014 will probably be stronger than 2013, but the rest of the draft appears to be weaker overall.

You have Bridgewater who has a bunch of questions and then no one else who'd have gone before Round 4 this year.

And IMO, Bridgewater is a middle of round 1 type, nothing really special.
Of course, prospects can have breakout seasons but we'll have to wait and see.

Whether a player is a middle of round 1 type doesn't mean they won't be drafted higher. As of now i like the potential of Mariota, Manziel and Bridgewater more than i did Barkley, Geno and Tyler Wilson a year ago.

BamaFalcon59 05-12-2013 01:16 PM

Mariota/Manziel... lol. Bridgewater is the only one worth talking about.

In here that seems to be what people want to focus on but it doesn't work that way. Manziel will catch someone's attention and go in the top 3 and Mariota really has the total package with his accuracy, footwork and mobility.

Don't be too hard on anyone if they don't bow down to everything Teddy Bridgewater.

Though Bridgewater is better, Mariota is definitely worth talking about. He's a talented player who needs some work, but he was only a freshman last year.

MassNole 05-12-2013 02:29 PM

I don't generally count RS-Sophomore QBs as draft prospects. But with both of them their college offenses will really make teams think twice and need to show a lot more.
