The 2013 Regular Season Thread

We can keep general and gameday talk in here. Feel free to still make threads. Just trying to try and improve conversation. Some one can make individual game day threads if they want.

Opening up against the Vikings in 6 days. Kevin Williams may not play. I think it'll be a pretty even match up.

Huge game against the Vikings. Must win almost starting at home in the division. Lions must be 3-3 division at least this season and winning at home does that.

Peterson will get his 100 but they have to not fall behind double digits to let Ponder just game manage, force turnovers(forced 0 vs Vikings last year) and not let Ponder make any big plays. Delmas and Quin should help that.

The offense can dink and dunk the Vikings to death with Pettigrew and Bush but Calvin will have a tough matchup with Cook who does a solid job against him usually. 54 yards against Cook, 200 yards when Cook didn't play last year. 100 and 1 TD from Calvin to get this offense going.

So pumped for this season especially the D with new DEs, healty safeites, Slay added and hopefully not dealing with 33 turnovers and 4 special team TDs to hurt the defense.

Ansah's concussion is scaring the **** out of me.

Lions did a really good job on Adrian Peterson after that first run. They held him to 15 yards on 17 rushes the rest of the game. Reggie Bush was awesome, but so was Joique Bell. Nick Fairley is everything we hoped Ndamukong Suh would be.

A nice win for the lions still a lot of bone headed things that cost points that need to be fixed. But you have to like the fact that CJ was held to close to nothing and Stafford was able to throw for 350 yards and just take what the defense gave him. The defense seemed to be improved

I agree. I was really impressed by the run stopping and the INTs. They blew Peterson up in the backfield multiple times. So glad they didn't cave to Avril.

Run defense was great despite the one big play. They left 17 points on the field though in Viking territory and gave up the 2 deep balls to Simpson to set up 2 TDs plus the big Peterson run. That needs to be shored up with Houston and Slay each.

I loved the running of Bush/Bell and the run blocking for a change. Warford and Hilliard did really well. Good to have depth at RT at least.

The upcoming games against the Cards is one of those early season road games that would be big in the W column later in the season.

The Megatron/Peterson match-up will be big, but I think the game will be decided between our D-line and a pretty pedestrian Cards o-line. Hopefully they bring it hard.

I hope to actually watch the game this week....new job and girlfriend are killing my football time. Gotta love that our FA additions are yielding results.

noondog 09-15-2013 07:57 PM

Damn Lions have away the game today. So frustrating.

Prowler 09-17-2013 03:22 PM

Odds on Suh ending RG3'S career on sunday? 30%

Maybe This Year Mayhew 09-18-2013 08:44 PM

Lions should be able to score points even without Bush at Washington. Their defense will be the key on Sunday to getting a big much needed win.

Iamcanadian 09-22-2013 01:24 PM

The problem is that the Lions rarely play well against the Redskins, just one of those odd things that happen in sports. Add in the loss of Bush and it could be another loss.

boknows34 09-22-2013 07:15 PM

First win ever in Washington after 21 consecutive defeats going back to 1939.

1-21

Bad News:
Jason Jones tore the patellar tendon in his left knee and is done for the season.

Good News:
Ziggy Ansah - 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble.

georgiafan 09-24-2013 12:06 PM

Nate B. breaks his arm in a one car wreck needs surgery

Iamcanadian 09-24-2013 06:08 PM

G-d, can it get any worse, Bush, Jones and Burleson all within a week.

Maybe This Year Mayhew 09-26-2013 02:27 PM

Bush is practicing along with Fox, Carey, Edwards, Sims, Delmas, Calvin and Palmer.

Missing Jones and Burleson will suck but we actually have depth with Young/Ansah/Idonije/maybe Taylor and Broyles/Edwards for Burleson.

The big thing is getting Bush back.

Nothing official, but people on twitter are going on about a Lions/Giants trade Hakeem Nicks for Leshoure and a draft pick

noondog 09-27-2013 02:24 PM

That would be siiick....

Prowler 09-27-2013 03:42 PM

I'm just hoping that reggie stays healthy, while secretly hoping that brandon marshall gets a td overruled for not completing the process.

Prowler 09-29-2013 02:16 PM

Looking great so far

big win yesterday and the playoffs looking more like a chance as the NFC east and south dont look like they are getting a 2nd team in the playoffs.

noondog 10-14-2013 09:41 AM

Faustian is an incredible red zone target, and Levy is having a beast year. Next week against the Bengals should be a good one. Hopefully Megatron will be good to go.
