Brandon Marshall on Lions defense

http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf...oit_lions.html

Not sure if this is worthy of its own thread, but Brandon Marshall went off on the Lions today calling them dirty and referring to them as "little brother" As well as taking a shot at Detroits current financial problems.

The city remarks are unnecessary, but this isn't the first time team are calling the Lions dirty. They have a playing style and personality. Suh and Fairley take shots on QBs, some flagged and some not flagged.

At least Marshal is open and puts his name on his words. No anonymous player crap.

Brandon makes some terrific points. Detroit does, in fact, suck. They'll probably somehow manage to screw up this division lead. They always bring the lolz.

The team is fair game but lay off the city. Chicago isn't exactly some paradise.

It is if you like getting shot at.

Ness 11-12-2013 08:31 AM

Meh. This just makes you sound like a little whiny ***** after you lost the game. Sit down Marshall before you slip on another MickeyD's bag.

Trogdor 11-12-2013 08:54 AM

How can someone live in Chicago and take shots, err verbal shots, at another city?

Meh, compared to Detroit it is a paradise. Chicago's south/southwest side is terrible, but the other 75% of the city is fine. It's like saying the entire state of Michigan is a shithole just because Detroit is.

Regardless, Marshall gon' Marsh. It's not like he wasn't some outspoken character before. I didn't think anything Detroit did was too bad at all, but they are going to get labeled and criticized constantly because they do sometimes take cheap shots. If they don't like it, then do something about it.

Also, sour grapes are sour.

Even though I agree with you guys it was nasty of him to trash the city, this made me lol

"No you can't go Detroit Lions," he continued. "Sit back. Sit in your little city. Know what I mean? Fix your financial problems and all of that. You can't come with us right now."

Chicago is a beautiful city. What's not to like when comparing it to other big cities?

Prowler 11-12-2013 01:07 PM

He's probably jealous that our quarterback can play with a separated shoulder against the Browns and even dive at the Cowboys in the closing seconds, whereas his quarterback can't tough out important games and be effective.

Not much worse then anywhere. I went 25 years with no crime. It's a beautiful city.

Chicago is notoriously renown for being the face of crime in terms of statistics. About a few weeks ago a mind bogging stat came out that youre like 400 times more likely to get robbed at a liquor store in Chicago than anywhere else.

So because you haven't had any crime occur to you that means the city is generally safe.

I'll keep that in mind when I travel to Kabul, because someone there hasn't faced crime it must be just as safe as other places (it is a desert paradise too!)

I admit that did give me a chuckle. Sounds like something he would say.

The stat I saw was: 500 times more likely to be a victim of violent crime (I think specifically gun-related crime) near a liquor store than anywhere else in the neighborhood. Basically, the store being a focal point for trouble. More of a within-Chicago stat than a city-to-city comparison.

As for BMarsh, he again comes across as an idiot. The "little brother" ramblings and shots at the city were foolish. Sure, the Bears may see the Packers as their main rivals and the Lions as upstarts, but Marshall running his mouth doesn't change the fact that the Lions are the best team in the division atm.

jrdrylie 11-12-2013 04:13 PM

Kabul isn't actually a desert...

But in terms of crime rate, Detroit blows Chicago out of the water:

Murder per 100,000: 54.6 vs. 18.5
Robbery per 100,000: 684.9 vs. 497.6
Aggrevated Assualt per 100,000: 1321 vs. 453.1
Property Crime per 100,000: 5792.1 vs. 4152.5
Burglary per 100,000: 1907.5 vs. 839.9
Car Thefts per 100,000: 1626.4 vs. 627.7

Now, theft is slightly higher in Chicago, so if you really value your phone, wallet, and watches, you may want to stay in Detroit. But if you value your car, your home, your wife's vagina, or your life, Chicago is a much better choice.

Again, there are bad parts of every major city. Chicago is a beautiful city. Can't deny that.

If I'm going to take my family on a nice vacation to Chicago I guess I wouldn't go to the liquor store in bad neighborhoods.

I'm speaking with first hand knowledge. Have you ever been shot at when in Chicago? Know anyone who has? It's incredibly easy to avoid the bad parts of a major city.

I tried to find a popcorn smiley face but I found these instead.

Both cities are crime infested shitholes. Detroit has no redeeming qualities, whereas Chicago at least is nice if you're not getting stabbed or robbed.

Your location says Jersey. Just be quiet and sit in the corner.
