How many games should preseason last?

I really hate that the preseason lasts 2 more games than it should imo.

By the 2nd game the coaches already know who are making the roster, and I don't like seeing injuries happen when they shouldn't.

like anyone has ever suffered a serious injury in preseason

Ravens1991 07-19-2006 07:05 PM

Mike Vick broke his leg I believe in pre-season I say 3 games.

Trent Green would have been the QB to take the Rams to the SB had he not got hurt in pre season i think it should be no more then 3 games.

2 games, make the regular season 18 games.

Its fine how it is now.

People can get seriously injured just as easily in the 1st 2nd or 3rd regular season games. Pre Season or that early in the regular season is still too early to go down no matter how you look at it so just leave the pre season alone.

jackalope 07-19-2006 08:06 PM

i think shortening the preseason would help. it's terrible when a player goes down in a meaningless game and it has an effect on how the team does.

The Unseen 07-19-2006 08:09 PM

It's fine.

And it's erroneous to say that coaches know who they want by the second game. The third-stringer make their money in the late preseason games.

Canadian_kid16 07-19-2006 08:14 PM

plz...u really want two more weeks of teams playing a junior high team?

Smooth Criminal 07-19-2006 08:52 PM

I think 4 is fine. If you are worried about your stars getting hurt, don't play them. Its as simple as that.

exactly

and as to anyone who took me seriosuly before.......

It should be two games. Cut down on the meaning deficient, boring, drama free pre-season and get to the meat of the season.

Of course but injuries are expected to happen during the regular season, those games actually mean something though, preseason don't, which is why we only need two preseason games. I would love to see the schedule elongated to 18 games though.

2 games, leave the season the same length though. I think it would be fine, maybe have the Super Bowl at the end of January again?

littlewebs 07-20-2006 03:13 AM

You need 4 games for fringe player tryouts. Two games is not enough to get a good look at the guys competing for the last few roster spots AND get your starters' rust shaken off.

I agree. 2 preseason and 16 regular season games.

njx9 07-20-2006 04:29 AM

make it three. the fourth game is absolutely worthless. leave the 1st and 2nd for the backups to fight it out, the third for starter warm-up, then get to the season.

the ONLY reason there's 4 right now is to put more money in the owner's pockets. don't delude yourselves into thinking coaches couldn't straighten out their rosters in a shorter amount of time.

It's fine how it is. In all honesty, teams do scrimmages and stuff anyways. The only reason people dont like the preseason is because of the injuries, but it isnt really any different than a scrimmage only that it's "official" and more recognized. Bills and Browns scrimmage every year and its never a preseason game, people dont complain about that.
