If voting for the All-Star game ended today, 7 of the 8 positional players would come from the Yankees and Red Sox, couldn't make that up. Thome wasn't in the top-5 for 1B, wow.

Josh Beckett has not been very good he wont make it. My vote would be for Mussina to start it and Webb for the NL

i just voted. I hate how people are homers all the time, you should vote only for the best players right now, not your teams players.

However, regarding your thread, these always start out like this. The Yanks and Sox have a big fan base, and they always vote early and often.

Red Sox fans have no life thats why players like Trot Nixon have a ton of votes despite being worthless. I still like the Red Sox, just not all the people who vote for them just because they are on the Red Sox.

The only knock he has going against him, is his HR total which is only at 4. Fans love guys who can hit the long ball. Add that to the fact that he plays for the slumping twins...he isn't really getting the recognition he deserves.

He does/did lead the AL in BA recently and ranked 7th in OBP...not to mention he is a great defensive catcher. But he will be overlooked because of the two reasons i mentioned above.

Hopefully Damon doesn't start or make it for that matter, he doesn't deserve it. The rest of those guys are good/decent candidates, though some of them aren't the best candidates either.

I am a little surprised that there aren't any good 2b players in the AL that could challenge Cano or Loretta. I'm not saying either one of those aren't good but neither is exactly a world-beater. How's Roberts doing?

Like I've said, there are better candidates.

Personally I'm not against fan voting but I don't think fans should be the only ones that decide who starts. There should be a managers and players ballots as well for starters, pitchers AND reserves.

Especially now that All-star games decide homefield in the WS.

They should also get rid of the rule that each team has to have at least one player there. Some teams just don't have all-star caliber players.

The only reason I've been voting for all Pirates is b/c the All-Star Game is in Pittsburgh. I'm just mad that:

1) Freddy Sanchez isn't on the ballot.

2) Sanchez probably won't be put on the All-Star team unless Cabrera or Wright gets hurt.

I can't remember what OPS was, is it OBP + Slugging? If so, Pronk's is 1.045.

Even though I hate his guts, Thome should be first. But then the next three are kind of interchangable.

Hafner should be considered too, though he plays most of the time as a DH. He might make the team in that position.

I forgot about Hafner right after I posted, but I still would have him after Giambi, cause he can actually play the field, which allows one of the Yankees other 30+ year olds / injured players to take advatage of the DH spot. My bad.

This is what it SHOULD be. The MLB needs to quit letting the fans pick the teams, since everyone is biased towards NYY and BOS who votes.

I'm sorry but Alex Rodriguez does not deserve to be a top the AL 3B All-Star Rankings. He's a great player but he hasn't had the year that say a guy like Joe Crede has had for the White Sox. Joe is IMO the best glove man in the MLB at 3B and he's finally found his offense.
