The folks at Electronic Arts held a contest this year to determine the identity of the next Madden video game cover athlete.

The finalists were Vikings defensive end Jared Allen, Colts receiver Reggie Wayne, and Saints quarterback Drew Brees. (Voting ended March 15.) But another guy who didn't make the final trio thinks he should be the player on the box.

Titans running back Chris Johnson.

"No one else deserve to be there but me," Johnson told NBC Sports Digital General Manager Rick Cordella at the Interactive Sports Conference in Las Vegas. "I set the record."

"I feel like I should be the highest paid offensive player," Johnson told Cordella. "No one has done what I have done in the league in their first two seasons." (So, basically, Johnson told "Rick" that the Titans should "pay me.")

Johnson also thinks that 2009 won't be the only time he rushes for more than 2,000 yards. "I did it early in my career and can do it again," Johnson said.

And, of course, Johnson had a few things to say about his speed. He thinks he should have a 100 speed rating in the Madden game, he ignores Maurice Jones-Drew's belief that he's faster than Johnson, and Johnson said he plans to race Usain Bolt in the 2011 offseason. (Johnson's plan to race Bolt in 2010 possibly was derailed by the fact that Bolt apparently has never heard of him.)

Meanwhile, Johnson had a couple of predictions for 2010. He thinks that quarterback Vince Young "can get us to the promised land." And Johnson offered up some advice to fantasy players.

"You have to take me first in your draft or you are going to lose."

The player is sick, and the person just annoys me.

He doesn't deserve to be the highest paid player, pull that off back to back, one of the highest maybe, but he's so full of himself.

CJ2K is very disrespected. Only 1 vote for MVP not a finalist in madden cover. All sorts of disrespect. He should easily be best paid RB.

Love me some CJ2K!!! Mostly because I got him in my auction draft for $3 ($200 salary cap) two years ago and will franchise him again this year for $7!!! He has made me about $4000 in 2 years. I think he needs to get PAID!!! But not yet, I want this to keep him motivated this year and lead me to my 3rd straight championship.

What you gotta love and respect is he was saying all this stuff before he blew up last season, he was very confident in himself, put himself out there by talking a big game and proceeded to back it up.

You can say whatever you want if you back it up, and I love that confidence in himself. Yea everyone loves the humble guy but the facts are, it's not everyone's personality to be that way.

I think him being so confident pushes him to continue to do well.

That said, I thought it was very strange he wasn't even considered to be on the cover, but I bet the Titans fans/organization isn't too upset about it.

CJ doesn't really have a filter inbetween his brain and his mouth, so expect more of these things to come. It's really not a big deal to me, cause CJ's harmless. Titans fans love him. His teammates love him. He's much more of a motivation than distraction. And, he's looking ahead to another great season in what's likely to be an improved offense (Hopefully, we'll have someone behind him to help him. Don't want to run him into the ground like we did with Earl and Eddie).

CJ's loose, likes to have fun, and says what he thinks. He texted Deion Sanders during the 40-yard dash to defend his 4.24 record. He wanted MVP last season, and said so. Now he wants to be on the cover on Madden (NOOOOO CJ! ABSTAIN!!!), so he's gonna say so. Besides, he's kind've got a point (not to be too big of a homer). He's coming off a 2,000-yard season, was a MVP candidate but won OPOY instead, and is probably one of the funnest players to play with cause of his speed. Maybe EA Sports should listen to him? (DON'T LISTEN TO HIM EA!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!)

At least he's not saying he's future a Hall of Famer...yet! :D

technically he did beat them all last year. so he's better than them. they should actually build a new hall, the hall of johnson.

I remember the 2008 draft.

No one gave a damn about CJ. Some people even got pissed when he was taken in the 1st.

That's true, but everyone makes wrong predictions from time to time. It happens, and most people here fully admit when it does.
