He's a guard, not a running back. Alan Fanaca just retired at 34. I'd be thrilled with 8 years out of Watkins. Maybe 6 if he's not as good, but still better than more than half of the teams will get from their first rounders this year. His age won't matter when it's all said and done.
People said the same thing about Pouha from the Jets, who was also 26. They didn't pick him as high, but he's the only player remaining on the roster from that draft class at 32 playing an important role on their defensive line.
Watkins and Jarrett should be starters on this team for a long time. In 3 years the rest of the picks (hopefully not Marsh) could be gone and people should still say we had a good draft because of those two at the top.
