Lions can score with Stafford or Hill and now LeShoure showing some talent. But the Vikings with Ponder have done well this year and Peterson can always bust out a big game. Plus they get deep threat Simpson back. And Cook can cover Calvin.
It's all up to the Lions pass rush which for the most part has been non existent. KVB looks old, Avril is still a one trick pony without the trick this year, Young has done nothing and Lo Jack was a healthy scratch. Someone needs to step up big time but expect alot of short quick passes again.
The Lions have lost something this year and need to search within themselves to find it again. I don't know if its a lack of cojones or a lost identity. Our team is supposed to be comprised of physical freaks that put an ungodly amount of fear into our opponents because they can't match our natural talents. Calvin is a walking freak of nature, Stafford's gun is unrivaled, and Suh can tear through an entire oline by himself.
So far Calvin is doing his job. I want to see Stafford elevate himself again. He's been average and not his 5,000 yard self. We should be begging him to be on the field this Sunday, and not perfectly fine with Shaun Hill replacing him. Suh...its unfair to put our entire front four blame on his shoulders, but this is his unit. In 2010 Suh had 12 tackles and 2 sacks through 3 games, 2011 he had 9 and 2, and this year he is 6 and 2. 2 tackles in each of the first 3 games is not the impact that we're looking for. Are you going to tell me that Fernando Velasco and an aging Steve Hutchinson can shut Suh down now? WTF! Avril also needs to get over his contract situation and get his ass back into the game. (1 sack)
So please, Lions, get your mojo back. Go out there and get stuff done. If Stafford needs to avoid handing the ball off for a couple drives, then so be it. Throw some early picks, find your rhythm. Suh...go stomp on some people. Put the fear of Suh into your opponents. I want them to think you are absolutely batshit insane and will rip their arms off and club them to death at any moment.
Lets turn this:

Agree Prowler this has to be a statement game. 2 tough losses on the road. This a division home game. We are more talented than the Vikings. We better clown stomp them. Must win as you have to hold serve at home in division games especially the worst divisioin team.
Vikings have the weapons to beat us but it's up to the Dline to take them away. Lions pass pro has been good but Backus struggles with Allen. They need to keep Stafford clean and get LeShoure going again. Worst case this has to be a shoot out win. No excuses to not pull back to 2-2 in this game and then hope the Bears lose Monday Night at Dallas.
Stafford isn't right, Pettigrew drops a ton, defense can't tackle, OL can't run block or block at all, Titus is still boneheaded, can't get 3rd down stops, and our special teams are very very special.
I honestly didn't think Stafford was that bad today. Had a few key drops and the Lions had zero success running the ball. You guys probably win that game without 2 complete lapses on special teams
So frustrating. It was easier to be a fan when expectations were so low.
Expecting to lose is so much better. You could always say "We'll be better in a few years" back then, but we can't say that anymore.. Now all we can say is "we suck".
We've got no heart. We're just entitled bitches who think we can walk out there and win. Getting to the playoffs last year was apparently good enough.
Couldn't agree more and I think it's on Schwartz & Co. I find him to be arrogant and I feel strongly that the team, specifically some of our young studs, is feeding off of this. They have no focus, no finish and no discipline.
I think Schwartz and Rex Ryan are two coaches who are on the hot seat early. With Philly and Chicago coming up after the bye week, I think things will get really uncomfortable really quickly amoung the Lions coaching staff.
I would've liked to have seen Danny Crossman get the axe immediately after yesterday's game as well. It would've at least given the appearance that the team is going to hold people accountable for repeated failure. As it sits, Schwartz wants to proect his own and it could hasten his walk to the plank.

So goddamn frustrating right now.
Attitude reflects leadership. All of these mistakes and blown assignments reflect on the coaching. We're believing in the invisible instead of earning our due and making stuff happen.

Good defensive effort holding them to 6. Some pressure but not enough and Peterson still did well but they were just able to bring him down to avoid disaster. Plus the run D got better as the game went on especially in the 4th.
Stafford had good completion percentage and yards but the redzone offense just falters. Miss to Scheffler on the first drive, good tackle on Calvin one yard short of a first down, 3rd and 1 stuff in Viking territory, big hit by Harrison Smith and Pettigrew drop, LeShoure fumble, 4 and out in redzone without Calvin(Greenway will be fined). Too slow of starts every time and then not finishing.
The run blocking will be atrocious against good run defending teams(which Vikings are and were last year too) and the LeShoure fumble was about as ill timed as Pettigrews fumble last week.
It wasn't just one guy. It was everyone doing one or two things bad here or there.
Special teams that can't put Jonte Green on the outside. Exploited every time, kick was to the right and and Harvin went to the Lions left right at Jonte. That is scouting by Vikings on Lions scheme and bad personnel putting Green on the outside again. The punt return was just terrible tackling. Osgood(a special teams ace) has to make that tackle along with Joique Bell(who never really played special teams).
These last 2 games could have gone either way but now that they didn't the Lions are screwed unless they suprise with wins the next 2 games in two very tough road games.

And also I think Young(knee) and Scheffler(calf) have nagging injuries. At least I hope that is part of the problem because the Lions aren't expoiting the coverage to Calvin like last year and finishing drives. 6 TDs to Scheffler, 6 to Young(mostly second half of season), 5 to Pettigrew last year.
Lions are 6-10(including playoffs) since starting 5-0. They can't revert back to 2010 losing close games.
