****** awesome. Gmen added some beef!

EDIT from our team thread:

I'm all on board with our draft. Especially with how SF and Seattle have beefed up their lines. Adding more beef of our own so we can push them around is great. I get why our guys had such a boner for Pugh, he's like a clone of David Diehl in his prime but with quicker feet. He may start out battling for the right tackle spot, but he'll become a fantastic pulling guard for us at some point.

Can't say I paid too much attention to big hank, but having someone else with real size inside after Joseph, who's not just a TC body like Rogers, is important if we want to be winning playoff battles against the run heavy NFC west teams. Cause none of Jenkins, Patterson, Austin or Kuhn are massive run stuffers like LinJo and now Big Hank. Plus he seems to be a hard working mountain of man, so I'm cool with it, if only cause it means we can rotate him and Joseph so both are always fresh to stuff the run and keep our LBs clean. So a solid pick in my book.

I love Moore, he seems like another one of those diamond in the rough DEs we seem to snag. With a little grooming he'll surpass Kiwi for the spot opposite JPP once Tuck's gone for good. And with all that attention JPP'll be getting Moore should have plenty of chances to get to the QB. My favorite pick of this draft.

Nassib's a great value pick, hopefully we can parlay him into a premium pick in 2-3 years. My most meh pick, because I get it, but it's tough to get excited about a quality backup QB/future day two pick.

Taylor, Herman and Cox are all intriguing and all bring great size for their positions. Haven't seen any of them play, but apparently Taylor runs very well and smoothly considering how big he is, so he should be a ST stud while we try and polish the guy. Herman's huge and should give Snee some good cover in case he gets all broken again. And Cox is another 7th round RB, those tend to stick around on the PS and show promise. Hopefully he's able to stay healthy and become a little closer to Ahmad Bradshaw than DaRell Scott.

1 (9) - Dee Milliner (B+) - Only thing keeping it from being an A is that its not an immediate need, and it would've been better to trade back, but Milliner was BPA there.
1 (13) - Sheldon Richardson (B+) - Same as above, not really a need, but a BPA pick so I can't give it a bad grade.
2 (39) - Geno Smith (B) - This would have gotten a much better grade from me had it not been for the lack of QBs getting taken until they picked again in the 3rd. Waste of value there.
3 (72) - Brian Winters (B) - A need pick and almost definitely not BPA, I just don't get it with guys like Damontre Moore and Keenan Allen available that this was a BPA pick, maybe Moore and Allen were red-flagged by them and completely off their board.
4 (106) - Chris Ivory (C) - The first bonehead move of the draft, we could have had Johnathan Franklin at this pick had we not given it up. The first of what I expect to be many poor Idzik decisions. I was kind of liking him until this.
5 (141) - Oday Aboushi (D) - I almost threw my remote at the TV at this one. I thought Aboushi would have went undrafted TBH. He has some solid tape but his measurables are too awful to ignore. I couldn't believe this pick. Terrible.
6 (178) - William Campbell (B-) - I'm torn on this one because its tough to see how even if he pans out how he'd get playing time behind Wilkerson, Richardson, and even Ellis. I like the value and upside, but it's just way too many young DTs on one team. Cornelius Washington would have been my choice.
7 (215) - Tommy Bohanon (A) - Finally a good value and need pick in one. Took long enough. I really like this pick a lot, sad that my favorite pick is our 7th rounder. Hopefully they do better with priority free agents.

Overall grade - B

I agree on the Milliner and Richardson front. I like the players and talent. Hopefully they work out.

I'm not sure you diminish the value of the Geno selection just because no QB's went right after. I still believe there is a difference between him and Nassib, and the other QBs. I think getting Geno at 37 is solid value. The Jets don't have a QB and you miss on any chances you don't take. I give the Geno an A- or B+. The value was fine and fills a big need. If he was a first rounder my opinion would change because the value would be less.

I like the Winters pick. OL was a big need, both for quality and quantity/depth. Moore would have been a OLB conversion, with maturity issues and physical concerns. I was rooting for Allen, but clearly they worry about his speed and health. Winters is a solid B pick.

Calling Ivory for a 4th the 'bonehead move of the draft' is one of the bonehead comments of the draft. We needed a RB, we got a RB. If you prefer Franklin to Ivory that is fine, but Ivory has shown talent in the league and provides a tough runner. Franklin is unproven and is a more similar player to Goodsen than Ivory. I'm fine with it. Drafting Ivory in the 4th with NFL experience is a solid B+ because he has low wear and tear and is young. Franklin likely would have gotten an A from me had we drafted him.

Aboushi was a surprise, and I don't know too much about him. From what i can tell he was a respectably rated tackle until the combine. Hopefully he can improve physically and proves to be a solid depth lineman, which we are clearly looking to improve. I'll give a C to this pick unless he can play G as well, which is questionable at this point.

Campbell is apparently switching to G? Interesting. That is a complete unknown. I can't grade it until we see more.

Overall we got arguable the top CB, a top 3 DT who can play DT in 4-3 or add rotation in 3-4, the top QB in a questionable class, OL depth, and a solid RB. I give the Jets draft a B / B+. Could have used some WR/TE support to make it better, but this is a solid start for Idzik IMO.

Surprisingly, I actually like Ivory. I just would prefer getting a cheap rookie RB instead. Ivory has proven he can start in this league as much as any rookie RB has, in that he hasn't. He also has lot proven to be able to stay healthy either, so for 3 years and 10 mil, I just don't see how he's even remotely close to worth a 4th round pick.

As for Campbell converting to G, that makes the pick even worse! I know Izdik wants people to compete, but drafting 3 interior linemen out of 6 picks is a bit over the top, especially when you sign 2 veteran guards to 1 year deals as well. I just don't get it.

We've also not fared particularly well in UDFA. We should've been able to get more than just Zach Rogers, Pantale, and Rontez Miles as the only likely players to make the 53man, there are like 7-8 spots an UDFA could've made the team on. It's not completely over yet, but so far it's meh.

I agree with the B rating. It was a B+ heading into Day 3 but it dropped to B for me.

You underrate Ivory too much....Franklin is just a year younger and is an unproven commodity and Ivory even despite injury woes can be a go to back for the Jets and I think he's one of the NFL's best kept secrets.

If you like Geno enough, you don't wait so long...Jets considered him at 13, so for him to be there at 39...they didn't wanna ******** around.

I like Aboushi's versatility...I think he's better than a D but he does need to get stronger. I don't think its far off that he can get better moving forward but he might project to be better after a year or so of getting accommodated with the Jets coaching staff.

We gave up a 4th round pick AND 3.33mil a year. That's why it's a bad move. He isn't worth that much he's as unproven as anybody. It's a huge gamble and I'm not behind it and I even like Ivory. If he were a FA and we signed him to that deal I'd love it, I just hate giving up that money and the pick.

I would say a solid B for the Redskins. Addressed needs and got good value. Could have used an OT or an ILB but they would just be late round backups anyway.

1(15) Kenny Vaccaro, grade F. Kenny Vaccaro has a strong case of being the most overrated player in this draft as he was a suspect tackler and persistent in taking bad angles. His skills in man coverage are above average but his judgment of plays when playing deep is just flat out bad. To me Vaccaro is closer to the 15th ranked safety in this class instead of the 15th ranked prospect. He was also picked to facilitate cap management next year which is never a good thing. Safety was somewhat of a need but far from the saints biggest, the fit is not ideal given what Ryan likes to do and the value is outright shocking. Indefensible pick if you ask me.

3(75) Terron Armstead, grade A. Tremendous athletic tackle who fits exactly what the saints can use. someone athletic enough to keep brees clean for a good bit even when his contribution in the running game will be mediocre. Could be pushed to play earlier than he should given the saints roster but good value, good needwise and a great fit.

3(82) John Jenkins, grade A-. The minus is because of the trade that i didnt really like. This draft had amazing depth into the fourth round so swapping to prospects for one was a mistake in my opinion. Given that mistake i do really like the pick however. a really good prospect for the nose position in a 3-4 that likes to play more attacking than most noses his size do. Id still rather have William Gholston and Barrett Jones both than only Jenkins though.

5(144) Kenny Stills, grade C. A physically gifted prospect that never really lived up to his potential in a receiver friendly offense. He is a bit of a boom or bust prospect but not a guy i want in my lockerroom. A bit of a diva (not only because he looks ridiculous in a dress) and quite frankly if we wanted to go boom or bust receiver id much rather have taken a similarly difficult character in marquess wilson in the sixth who has legit #1 potential than a guy who can easily bust but whose upside is more like a solid, acceptable number 2.

6(183) Rufus Johnson, grade B-/C+. Im not gonna act like i can legitimately judge this pick as i had not only never heard of the prospect, i had never heard of Tarleton State university. The guy is supposed to be a pass rushing olb in our 3-4 but who can really say at this point.

Overall needs met: C. The biggest need going into the draft was quite clearly pass rush yet the staff decided to rely on a sixth round D2 rookie who has never seen anything near a NFL talent prospect in his career and a UDFA in chase thomas (whom i actually really happy about), this was a criminal flaw in the draft. A second aspect here is that the team once again surrendered picks instead of acquiring them in a situation where the team needed a lot of new blood.

Overall Value: C+. Vaccaro totally screws up the overall value but the two third rounders lift this to a passing grade. nothing special though as a whole as the last two picks were certainly not really good value although one might argue that stills was acceptable value

Overall Fit: B. I dont see Vaccaro fitting nice into what Ryan usually does. He would need Vaccaro to play to his weaknesses (playing deep, solid tackling, good angles) and quite frankly he is too similar to jenkins (poor tackler, decent in man coverage for a safety, bad angles, lacks top speed) so that they are not really complimentary. Armstead is about a custom designed saints mid round OLine pick. Jenkins is a perfect fit for what Ryan customarily asks his nose to do and saints have always thrived with just another guy receivers which stills could very well become.

Overall this leads to about C+ (B- if you also considered the UDFAs with Kevin Reddick, Chase Thomas and Ryan Griffin among others). That being said the ceiling of your grade kinda collapses if you tank on the high first rounder and have no second rounder

Lol @ Vaccaro being an F. Decent value and a big need is clearly an F. I think the saints had one of the best drafts out of anybody. Did Vaccaro piss in your cereal?

As a Bucs fan I definitely breathed a sigh of relief when the Saints took Vaccaro.

When the Jets took Richardson one spot ahead of the Panthers I was definitely happy as well.

When Trufant was picked up by the Falcons I grimaced in pain. I don't want to see that guy twice a year.

Genius insight. The consensus top safety in the draft and you shut all that down with this amazing new perspective.

B for the Jags

No QB was really bad, but we just got Matt Scott who could have easily been a draft choice in the middle rounds, so that keeps it from being a C or lower.

Absolutely love Joeckel as a prospect, but hate taking a RT #2. We do face JJ Watt twice a year though, so he'll be a big asset there, but Jordan would have been better.

The rest of the picks are straight forward.

Chiefs get a solid "meh"

Pats get a D for trading out of a pick they should have made.

Skins

2(51) David Amerson: S : NCSTATE : C- : I'm meh on the pick. In the third or 4th round he'd be a steal but just not a fan of the pick in the 2nd round. He has top 15 talent, but I just don't see the fit unless he refines his game drastically. Having him and Deangelo together is a real danger for giving up the deep ball. IMO he doesnt have the size or physicality to play FS. I wouldnt be shocked if he developed into a very good pro but an awfully big risk for our first pick in the draft. Jamar Taylor and Robert Alford would have been better picks, but better I wish we'd gotten Arthur Brown or Margus Hunt.

3(85) Jordan Reed : TE : Florida : B : Love the pick talent and value wise. Definitely a BPA type of pick. Not really a need at all but good talent and assurance for the future. He has the athleticism to be a matchup problem for defenses and we could see him in the slot and backfield with RGIII ala Hernandez. My only issue is that we already have Logan Paulsen, Fred Davis, and Niles Paul at TE so basically we will carry 4 TE's as Paul showed enough promise at TE and our starting KR to make the active roster. Might have to wait on this pick unless he shows flashes of brilliance early.

4(119) Phillip Thomas : S : Fresno State : C+ : Solid pick and value for our #1 position of need. He definitely has some great ball skills and could compete for playing time at safety but to me he doesn't project to be much more than a solid pro at best.

5(154) Chris Thompson : RB : Florida State : C : Explosive back who could thrive under Shanny. Has the speed and receiving ability that would complement Morris well. Unfortunately much like Roy Helu injuries will probably prevent him from having a lasting NFL career but I will enjoy him for as long as he's healthy if he makes the roster, definitely at least worth the practice squad as I'm sure Royster or Helu will go on the IR rolling out of bed.

5(162) Brandon Jenkins : DE/OLB : Florida State : B+ : Maybe my favorite pick of our draft and great value in the 5th round. Yeah he had a bad injury but at least it wasn't a knee or back injury. A great backup along with Rob Jackson should Orakpo get hurt or not be part of our long term plans. The great thing is this will basically be a redshirt season for him to get 100% healthy.

6(191) Bacarri Rambo : S : Georgia : A : Maybe I'm too high on Rambo than I should but in the 6th round he's an awesome value. Could easily go 3rd-4th round and I'd be happy. I actually like him more than Thomas and I could seriously see him being our day one starter which for a 6th rounder you'd be happy with him being a special teams contributor.

7(228) Jawan Jamison : RB : Rutgers : B+ : Could be another Shanny late round RB steal. While Thompson might bring something new to the RB rotation ultimately Jamison is the guy likely to make the roster and make the most impact, he could easily take Royster's spot. Jamison is the perfect insurance policy for Morris. He's already a better receiver and pass protector than Alfred Morris.

Overall : B : I still count RG3 as part of this draft lol, but with what we had I think we got good value on every pick. Last year all of our picks made our active roster I expect the same this year with the exception of the RB's. I love our added youth and talent something we have lacked the last 10 years, we have always been 0 deep now we actually have young backups with potential. Some risks in here but possible future starters, I'm happy.

panthers get a C.

why take a LB and RB when that is one of the deepest spots on your roster, left lots of weapons that the QB could use and secondary players on the board.

the first 3 picks where great, last 2 hurt the grade.

If you think the first 3 picks were great, yet you somehow only give the draft a C, you need to change your grading system.

If the Bears had drafted Arthur Brown in the first and Kyle Long in the second, I would have given their draft an A. So it's hard for me to give them a terribly bad grade for getting Long and passing on Brown for another linebacker when pretty much every other team did the same. And I thought their day 3 was awesome. B-/C+ area.

Yup. People stress way too much over guys drafted in rounds 5-7.

I give the Packers and A for Effort because they finally tried to address the run game.

They drafted the two best RBs in the draft too, so at least they're giving it some real effort.
