Default You can't bash Rex Ryan anymore.

This guy took the Jets to the AFC Title game two years in a row. In 2009 running into Manning in the RCA dome with a rookie QB. In 2010 beating the Pats and your prize is you get to go to Pitt to play them at home.

All this with Sanchez who was never a good QB. He just had a great running game and a even better D around him.

It all fell apart in 2011, 2012 because the roster let Ryan down. I don't care how good of a coach you are. When your QB can't play and turns the ball over more than he completes a pass. And your roster is capped out and very old. It's going to hurt for a little.

Fast forward to this year. With rebuilding the D in the draft with the picks of Wilkerson, Coples, Milliner, Richardson and LB Davis. If Ryan keeps coaching this team they'll always be in games because if you like it or not. He is brilliant defensive mind.

If the Jets keep him as their coach and build this roster. I'm sure Rex will have this team playing in AFC Title games again in no time. And maybe in Super Bowls too.

I don't think i ever bashed Rex. Pats fan here.

I love the way he runs his defenses and players live his moxie. He's a really good head coach and a great defensive coordinator.

I didn't read any of your post.

He's the head coach. He's responsible for fielding the best team possible. He has to take some of the blame. I will say it's hard when the front office is a joke though. The amount of news that the Jets get in general is a joke. Why the **** do people care to report how bad the Jets front office is or every bad decision they make compared to other bad front offices?

Because we have tools like Dick Cimini and Manish Metha(Or as some Jet fans dub him, Womanish) think bashing the Jets can propel their careers above being a beat writer. Too much agenda ******** and its a joke. Some Jet fans refuse to click the links to their articles to refuse to give them any support since its not honest journalism, its stuff with hidden agendas inside of it and bias. Mehta acted like Rex murdered babies after Sanchez got hurt in the 3rd quarter of the preseason vs the Giants. He's mad at Rex because Rex had to let go of Manish's source, Mike Pettine.

Also ESPN had a "Pro-Tebow" lovefest and when the Jets neglected to use Tebow, ESPN took exception to that and treated the Jets like a joke. Kiper said we were basically an expansion team as far as talent goes LOL. This fool seriously thought the Jags were more talented. We had 6 wins last year....not 1 or 2 or 3 or 4. Despite Keller mostly hurt, Holmes done for the year early, Revis done for the year early, and a whole bunch of self inflicted stupidities that got corrected this offseason.

Woody Johnson does put the blame with his stupid quotes no doubt though. Tannebaum, Rex did not want Tebow but Woody Johnson wanted Tebow jersies to be a bit hit and to take away the Giants SB hooplah so he told Tannebaum to make the move. He also vetoed Rex's plea to not be on Hard Knocks for the 2nd year and Woody loved having the cameras set up for the Jets. The guy is a buffoon of an owner but what can you do?

Everyone needs a QB. Even Rex, which he apparently now has.

God how bad did Mark Sanchez suck.

You can absolutely bash RR. A good chunk of the blame for the fiasco that is the Jets situation right now is on him. He brought the mentality of predicting Super Bowls every year, and then going all in with your roster decisions.

This team in year 5 of the RR era isn't going to get the Jets a SB win. That is absolutely on the head coach. You can blame Tannebaum if you want, but every move they've made since Rex took over has his finger prints all over it. Tannebaum was just the accountant who made it work.

I'll give credit where credit is due, and Rex has coached an undertalented team really well so far. I think from an X's and O's standpoint he's a strong coach defensively, who if he has someone to manage his personnel decisions, and someone to coach his offense, he can be an effective coach in the NFL. He's actually learned to curb some of his worst qualities, and has grown as a leader.

With all that being said, lets wait a few more weeks. Everybody remember that the Jets started 3-3 last season as well. The Jets have always been front runners under Rex Ryan. They're going through the soft stretch of their schedule, and they're relatively injury free. There tends to be a compounding effect when things don't go well for this team. I mean they lost by 25 to the Titans just a week ago.

I think they've done an excellent job in the last 3 drafts, and that is showing positive results on the field. It will be interesting to see if RR survives this year, and if he learned from his roster management mistakes before. This thread however, is laughably premature based on anyone who has seen the Jets play the last 5 seasons.

Anyone who wants to give the Jets credit for being more competitive than we thought after bottoming out their roster, needs to remember that it's Rex's fault they bottomed out their roster in the first place.

I always wanted Rex as our HC after Billick. We didnt make the wrong choice with Harbaugh since we have had great success with him. But I will always be a Rex fan and can only imagine what our D would look like with Newsome picking players for him.

I'll never bash Rex Ryan for his defensive coordinator ability. I will bash him for the false bravado he had every year until now.

The only problem with Rex is I'm unsure he can build a competitive offense. Otherwise I love the guy, and I'm willing to think he seems to have learned from his previous mistakes. Time will tell.

The Pats had a gift wrapped win vs the Bills, and barely beat the Falcons and Jets yet people say they are at worst a top 10 team in the league. :dunno:

Jets have beaten the same teams the Pats have minus of course their matchup of week 2 which is the difference of record.

The Steelers are still a good team. Anyone who wants to jump to conclusions based on 4 games instead of years of evidence is silly. Honestly wouldnt surprise me that much if the Steelers end up winning the AFC North.

Steelers have no running game and have failed to address the pathetic OT situation for many years. Ben can't do it all himself - the best they can do is .500

They were trotting out Dwyer and Redman for the first month of the season. Le'Veon Bell looks pretty good and should give the Steelers some resemblance of a run game. (Their o-line is bad. I'll give you that.)

I've always liked Rex and always thought he's a damn good coach.

Best defensive mind in the game if you ask me. My only knock on him is he doesn't know a lick about offense. But there are few coaches in the league who know both sides of the ball anyway. They delegate.

A lot of defensive minded Head Coaches struggle to find the right QB and OC. That's the reason Lovie Smith is not a Head Coach right now. Marty Mornhinweg was a good hire, this offense is a great fit for Geno Smith. Its odd but I'm glad Rex is winning right now.
