Default Daniel Coats Article

Just read this article by Chick Ludwig about TE/FB Daniel Coats, he even proclaims him the starting FB for the Bengals this season.

I kinda hope he does get the job and J. Johnson learns that he needs to show up in shape!

I can't see Coats getting the starters spot at this time, but completely rule out it happening. If Johnson doesn't drop the weight and Coats keeps learning, they could very well make the move. I think Coats would be just as much of a weapon out of the backfield that Johnson is if he takes the time to learn the position.

I like Coats and I'm not opposed to this happening but then what happens to Johnson? Seems like such a waste to use him for just special teams - could we possibly get any trade value out of a fullback?

I can't see getting much trade value out of him, but he's only in his 2nd year of a 6 year deal, in which the Bengals made him the highest paid FB in the league. Who knows ?????
