Merlin hopes to escalate quickly but not get out of hand.
Question Strength of Schedule

I need help, does anyone have a link to show the NFL's SoS for each team this season?

Thanks in advance.

Steelers have the toughest schedule.

I find it interesting that the Patriots have the easiest schedule. That was done intentionally IMO. The NFL knows the Patriots possibly going 16-0 again will make a giant media circus and raise ratings.

That stuff is so whack before the season starts. No one would have predicted the Browns to be such a serious threat or the Saints to be so lame. So many teams change...

well it doesn't help that they get 6 games against their terrible division

but I agree, in general it can give you an idea before the season but SoS really means nothing until after the season

One thing I noticed, the entire AFC west is in the top 8 or so in terms of easiest schedule. The Chargers, Broncons, and Raiders, are in the easiest four, and the Chiefs are down there somewhere.

Or not.

The schedules are decided years in advance. You play your division twice, one division from the AFC, one division from the NFC, and the two teams that placed the same in their divisions in your conference that you dont already play.

So when you look at the Pats and the Dolphins, they actually have the same schedule other than 2 game. The Pats play the Steelers and the Colts while the Dolphins will play the Ravens and the Texans.

And SoS is a horrible stat. It measures the strength of the teams last year and the team that starts with the hardest SoS almost never finishes the year with it.

The Pats is so low because the Dolphins went 1-15. That brings their average down alot.

You can figure out who your team plays for the forever other than two games a year.

You play the teams that place the same in their division in your conference that you dont already play.

So the scehdule wasn't made 2 years ago. But 14 of the 16 games were known back then.

Theres no conspiracy to favor the Pats in this case.

for those curious about how the schedule is made: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_sch...ormula#Formula

You are guaranteed to play every team at least once in a three year span.

but it's still a terrible stat... especially in the beginning of the season, the fluidity of the stat makes it highly unreliable for any sort of purpose.

ever.

You do realise that nothing in the schedule is "made" its all done by a formula.

You play a cross conference division 4 games
Your own division 6 games
You play an in conference division 4 games
You play the remaining 2 games against the remaining two divisions, you play the team that finished in the same spot as you.

THAT'S NOT TRUE. THE NFL REALIZES CLEARLY THAT ITS SYSTEM OF SCHEDULING PRACTICALLY GUARANTEES 5-8 NEW PLAYOFF TEAMS EVERY YEAR. IF YOU DIVISION DRAWS A TOUGH SCHEDULE, THEY ARE PRACTICALLY GUARANTEED NOT TO HAVE A 2ND PLAYOFF TEAM OPENING THE DOOR FOR SOME OTHER DIVISION. ONLY TEAMS WITH SUPERIOR QB'S HAVE ANY OPPORTUNITY TO GET BACK INTO THE PLAYOFFS EVERY YEAR.
