Week 6 picks
Colts over Ravens- Baltimore comes in with a very good defense but a young quarterback and new offensive line, Indy overcomes injuries to get the first home win of the season.
Vikings over Lions- Orlovsky's first start could be interesting, at least he's coming into this with a full week of practice, but AD will look to boost his season numbers back up plus the Vikes' defense wants to make sure they keep up after the great win on MNF.
Saints over Raiders- In the home dome, I like Brees and the passing attack (with Colston too?) to keep playing well.
Jets over Bengals- I was liking Cincy's chances before Palmer was ruled out, maybe Fitzgerald can get it done but my pick is J-E-T-S.
Panthers over Bucs- Practically a toss-up, but I give the edge to the Panthers on the hunch that Steve Smith makes the extra play.
Redskins over Rams- Washington plays very well at home, the Rams would have to pitch an almost perfect game to get the win. Especially when the Redskins offense is finding its groove, led by Clinton Portis.
Texans over Dolphins- Miami has produced two impressive wins in their last two games, but Houston plays well at home and will get their first win of the season. Matt Schaub and the passing attack gets it done.
Bears over Falcons- Atlanta impressed me with the win at Lambeau last week, and even though they play in the home dome this week, I like the Bears to play solid on both sides of the ball and get the win. I expect their main defensive focus for the game to be Michael Turner.
Broncos over Jaguars- This could be the most exciting game of the week, a real slugfest of trading big blows on the scoreboard. Broncos play better at home, so I give them the edge. Brandon Stokley will step up in the absence of Eddie Royal and Tony Scheffler. Denver can't cover tight ends, so this is the perfect opportunity for talented Marcedes Lewis to have the best game of his career yet, with Mike Walker out and Jerry Porter still rusty.
Cowboys over Cardinals- I don't think this is a definite like some others are. Arizona plays well at home, in their great stadium. And if the Cards' offense gets rolling early like they did against Buffalo last week, they could stay hot this week too if the Dallas pass defense doesn't play strong.
Eagles over Forty-Niners- No Brian Westbrook, but Buckhalter and some Booker/Hunt additionally can do a solid job of filling the void somewhat. DeSean Jackson might be extra motivated to play a good game, back playing on the west coast this Sunday.
Packers over Seahawks- Both teams look battered right now, but give the edge to the team that still has its starting quarterback for Sunday.
Chargers over Patriots- San Diego dropped the game in Miami last week like I thought they might (although didn't pick), but I have to think they win this game in turn. The running games will be limited and negated, but the Chargers will pressure Matt Cassel and also make plays on offense with Antonio Gates and Vincent Jackson. Looking forward to getting a good look at Jerod Mayo in this game, I may have underrated him as a prospect.
Giants over Browns- I'm assuming Kellen Winslow Jr. plays, but still like the G-Men. Too much defense, too much offense. For the Browns to win, they need Jamal Lewis to get first down after another, and for Derek Anderson to help them score many touchdowns instead of field goals. And playing coverage with the back 7 to try and force some mistakes from Eli, hoping that those big uglies up front can stop the Giants' running game.
