Harris would be just fine as a 4-3 MLB, come on. As a Tampa 2 MLB, his coverage likely leaves some to be desired, but if we're talking a 4-3 under Spags, he'd be perfect.

Yeah, Spagnuolo's defense blitzes a lot, a guy like Calvin Pace can fill the role of Kiwanuka in New York or Gocong in Philly. Lots of depth at DE helps with that system too. They'd need another DT though for sure.

I was thinking of something like that.

McDaniel's to NY Jets as their HC. He hires Romeo to run the D.

Cleveland hires Scottenheimer as their new HC with Mangini as his DC.

there is ZERO, absolutely NO chance of the Jets switching to a 4-3. It took them 3 years to field an average 3-4 personal D. That's why I think Cowher would be a perfect fit for them. Spags wouldn't go to the Jets, I'm sure of that.

I can't see the Jets hiring yet another very young Belichick disciple.

I think Mangini would have worked out if given a chance. First year he took them to the playoffs. Second year was a disappointment. Final year went 9-7 and barely missed the playoffs.

Aside from McDaniel's and Spags being a 4-3 guy, who else is left? Jason Garrett? Ron Rivera? Elevate Brian Scottenheimer? Bring in Marty Schotteinheimer? I really don't think Cowher would go to the Jets. I just have a hunch.

If this year has taught us anything it's that the big names or well known coordinators don't necessarily make the best coaches. Look at the success of Mike Smith, Jim Harbaugh, and Tony Sparano.

Barely missed the playoffs? Yes, in that they completely collapsed at the end of the season.

I don't think Bill Cowher would go to the Jets, but as I was reminded earlier, I didn't think the Yankees would sign Mark Texiera either.

The Jets went 1-4 in their last 5 games, and that one win was the Buffalo home game (goodbye forever, JP Loserman).

They lost at home to Denver, at San Fran, at Seattle, and at home to Miami. For that alone they deserve to not make the playoffs.

And it's stuff like that this has kept the Jets down.

I hope we bring in a more aggressive version of Mangini...it's just a dumb move.

I like this Jim Schwartz fella...and Woody Johnson said that Tannenbaum said that the Jets were looking under every rock. Mike Nolan wouldn't be bad either.

sometimes continuity is more important than a fresh start. he deserved at least one more year. i don't agree with this decision.
Not many coordinators would have jumped at the opportunity, because Mangini only had one year left on his contract. If Mangini was let go after this year, good chance the coordinators would be too.

As long as Favre, Shottenheimer, and Sutton are gone as well, I like the move. Someone needed to be held accountable for this collapse.

I'd prefer a 3-4 coach like Cowher, but Schwartz and Spags are great candidates as well

Schwartz is one of the most interesting HC candidates in the league IMO. Whoever gets this guy is setting themselves up nicely...I love the way he breaks down the game:

I guess the jets have forgotten the early 90s when they could barely win games and u fire a coach that improved from the year before by a big margin. I just dont get the NFL anymore everyone doesnt have patients i dont think youll ever have the dynasties of the past because teams dont let the coaches have some time. Everone knows one or 2 plays can put you in and out of the playoffs and to build a great team can take some time doesnt happen over night and thats what many owners i think dont see they are to eager to win the superbowl now.

I really like Schwartz and think the way he breaks down film would pay off dividends when it came to a HC position.

Interesting to hear comments by the Jets players regarding Favre. Seems like Favre really is a shady character. I never liked him, but the stuff players are saying is on par with stuff said about him in GB. In GB, they said he had a seperate locker room and stuff for him, and now players were saying he was very distant, and hung out in the team's practice facility in a private office, and not with his teammates.

Funny that in GB this stuff gets swept under the rug, but he should know better that in NY no one is going to not talk about this, and no one will kiss his butt. Favre is simply a big fish in an ocean, rather then a big fish in a small pond like in GB.

If they made the playoffs, it would have been swept under the rug. But instead Favre was awful down the stretch and is the main reason the Jets are sitting home now. Hopefully he is done.

If they made the playoffs, Mangina would be still the coach.. Too many Ifs and pretend this happened.

The truth is that brett was awful, and not what the team expected when they got him. They wanted him to be the man, and instead just as Mike Francessa said, was basically a passenger instead of the go to guy. I don't always agree with Mike F. but I thought he articulated my thoughts perfectly. Brett seemed to be a role player waiting for someone else to lead and be that go to guy, instead of being what the Jets visioned.

When you win things get swept under, but usually not for long. We were winning this year, yet the Burress fine issue made the media headlines. The media has your back, until you screw up. The team can be fine, but the difference is you, as a player, can't let down, especially if you do stuff that's shady.
