Default A little too similar?

Everyone is getting off on the Matt Cassel being a starting QB for the Pats thing, but let me point out just a weird bit of information.

Tom Brady first took over the Patriots in 2001...Lets take a look...

Game 1 start vs IND: 13-23 168 yards 0 TD 0 INT WIN 44-13
Game 2 start vs MIA: 12-24 86 yards 0 TD 0 INT LOSS 30-10

Matt Cassel first took over the Patriots in 2008...Lets take a look...

Game 1 start vs NYJ: 16-23 165 yards 0 TD 0 INT WIN 19-10
Game 2 start vs MIA: 19-31 131 yards 1 TD 1 INT LOSS 38-13

Both of their starts to their careers seem pretty similar in a bunch of ways, doesn't it?

Agreed, i wish the seasons ended the same. Something to point out: the 2008 pats were much better than the 2001 pats on offense and cassel had much more time to learn the system than brady did.

Pretty much. They're playing for the same team for the same coach in the same system, albeit that it's changed a lot since 2001. Of course the numbers are going to look similar. Difference is that Cassel has a billion times more talent and hasn't shown any of the Tom Brady magic Brady did in his first season. Not that big of a deal.

What? Who's getting off on what, now? If you mean the ESPNites talking about trading Brady to keep Cassel . . . well, it's ESPN. If any of them were qualified to handle personnel issues they would probably be working for a team somewhere.

The comparison of Cassel's season to Brady's first show quite a few similarities. BFD. Trade Cassel. Let's not be the team to find out if he's a more like Derek Anderson than Steve Young.

Although Brady is much better than Cassel, I still think Matt is a good player, and i hope he does well where he goes. When Brady went down, he stepped in and played better than everyone expected and came a win or a tie breaker away from going to the playoffs and who knows what would happen.

I love me some Cassel too. I loved him ever since I saw him live against the Saints in preseason a couple of years ago. He's not Tom Brady though, and he never will be.
