Mountain West asking for auto BCS bid
Just seen it. Pretty interesting as the argument does hold some merit.

This will never happen for the simple reason of money. A MWC (except BYU) can't bring the same kind of money that 95% of the other BCS schools can bring. In reality, automatic bids should just be gotten rid of, but that won't happen.

No. That messes everything up. Had they of got this in '07, BYU would have been in over Boise State. They can live off of the top 12 thing.

How can the BCS get any more messy?

I'd love to see the MWC have an auto bid but right now I don't think they have the teams to do it. Add Boise St and yeah, by all means, welcome to the auto bid world of the BCS.

Yes. Good move. ANY change to the BCS is a good change.
What would make it even better would be the rumored inclusion of Boise State into the MWC.
With Boise State, Utah, TCU, BYU, and to a lesser extent, San Diego State, this conference would be right up there with the rest of 'em.
And, I mean it. ANY CHANGE IS A GOOD CHANGE FOR THE BCS.

They shouldn't have signed off on the current BCS system in the first place

If they didn't sign off, I'm sure the other conferences would've been more than happy to exclude them from the BCS formula.

What I want to know is whether or not one of the non BCS conferences could file an anti-trust suit against the BCS. Utah has one twice, Boise once, but 2 loss teams get in because of the money.

They could file one, but even if they did, there would not be a ruling on it for a good 5-7 years. Everyone should just remember that at least the BCS is better than what it was before.

San Diego State is garbage and will be for awhile. They can't compete for recruiting since they are in USC's backyard

And whenever people start talking about conference affiliation, everyone forgets that there are other sports besides football involved in these matters. For example, even though Duke has been one of the worst football teams in the BCS conferences over the past decade, there is no way that the ACC would ditch them because of basketball. The same goes for San Diego State in most sports besides football. They do have a strong following in basketball with a team that usually is a contender.

This is why we need a playoff system.

MWC commish is going to Washington to discuss the BCS.

IMO, if they add Boise St. they should definitely be in consideration to get an automatic bid.
