Corey Redding Tagged
Just saw it on SportsCenter. Link to follow.
There is also a rumor that Seattle K Josh Brown might be tagged as well.

Good move, it's a little high of a price, but they couldn't afford to lose him.

What Marinelli loves most about Redding, who had a team-high eight sacks, is his energy, and he doesn't want to sap it by simply slapping the franchise tag on him.
"I think it's just very cold when you say, 'Well, hey, I don't care what you want. I don't care what you think. Done. You're here,' " Marinelli said. "This guy's built on playing hard, and he's got to feel good about everything in this building. So that's what I've been working toward."
I'm sure we'll sign him to a Long Term deal soon, though..

I wouldn't count on it, he may just decide to play this year under the franchise tender and attempt to reach the open market next year.

As a DE or a DT?

On ESPN, John Clayton said as a DT.. He also said that Redding is not happy about it, does not want to stay in Detroit, and is now hoping for a trade.

Good move. In the Lions/Falcons game, the one player that caught my eye was Cory Redding. He was a force, all game long.

And FA takes another hit.
Dan Synder must be pulling his hair out right now.

Watch him offer Matt Millen their 1st, but Millen turns it down for reasons only Matt Millen knows.
...taking stabs at Matt Millen is just too easy.

Wow. That would be a surprise. Putting the franchise tag on a kicker that isn't Adam Vinatieri.

I don't think I've ever heard of a player being tagged and being happy about it.

Well it'd only be around $2 Million, so if they aren't going to use it on another player I don't see why not.

I doubt anyone would give up one first rounder for him.

Just when I thought the Lions made a good move... They screw it up.
We'll give you Marcus Spears. Deal?

They needed to make this move. I think Redding would be amenable to staying, but he needs to know they are headed in the right direction.
